It’s absurd that the above poster said, “Ask around in your circle…And ask to read some of their previous work.” What essay editor would show her that? And who would hire one who did? Also, if you’re basing your decision on reading the editor’s prior work, you’d have no idea if it was bc the kid who wrote it was a good writer or the editor was good, or both. |

| The supplemental essays are so stupid and fake. Schools like USC and W&M have it right. They ask really questions that truly give insight on the applicant. |

We’re in the thick of it with these essays so I feel what the op is dealing with. With the common app making it easy to apply to a bunch of schools I feel like it’s the top colleges way of weeding out those truly interested vs those taking a bunch of shots in the dark.
That said, this board is filled with people insulting the sat scores of others peoples kids or the (lack of) academic rigor at others’ kids “grade inflating” schools. Write your darn essays yourselves. |
