Per the other post, I’m looking for names of essay editors who will directly edit (do the actual editing themselves in the doc (without AI)) the personal essay and supplements and not just make suggestions as google comments.
I think Sara at AppNation does this. Who else do you all recommend? |
| Quite a few. Search on here. |
| how do you know they are not using AI? |
| I think most people who have a good one won’t share it now…who wants their good one slammed with work unrelated to their own kid. The recommendations will likely be self-promotions disguised as from parents or from outdated experiences. |
Unless the poster has a kid starting college this Fall and nothing to lose. Or a PhD student etc. who once used one. Not everyone is at the exact same stage on the college forum (not everyone on it has kids either) |
Since they are asking for personal statement essay readers, presumably OP’s kid is a HS graduate if 2026. |
| I am not sharing names, but we are paying someone $5,5000 to edit the personal statement, activities list and supplemental essays. Supplemental review only covers 2 schools and will have to pay extra to have additional schools reviewed. Yes, I will admit that they are basically re-writing everything. |
| What's wrong with making suggestions as comments, for your child to figure out how to incorporate? Unless what you're really looking for is someone to write it. |
And then people have the audacity to complain that UMC students are hurt by a system that doesn't prioritize "merit." |
+100. You just want somebody else to do everything
|
lol Are you sure that's a good idea? |
| ours was a waste of time and money. she over-edited DS's essays. DS submitted his original version, that read like a 17 year old boy wrote it, and was accepted to his top choice. |
Are you in New York? Do you like the way the essay sounds? |
Why not? |
What is that teaching your DC about his abilities? Do you plan to hire someone to "edit" future writing assignments for him, in college and work? Why not just explicitly tell him that you don't think he's good enough? |
