The reality is it doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense to you. The owner of the site gets to set his own rules, and this is the rule he's set. If your heart burns with desire to talk smack about him right away, I bet you could start a thread on Reddit about him. |
Seth is typically a Jewish first name. Was Brandon Jewish? |
Were his first two kids out of wedlock or was he previously married? |
Lots of evangelicals name their kids Seth or are named Seth. |
I know a lot of not Jewish people in the south named Seth. |
Some people choose to remain close to their former step parent after their parent gets divorced yet again. Not worth quibbling over. |
It's used by more non-Jews than Jews in the English-speaking world. |
they have this thing called google: Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashworth from 2001 to 2012. She's 51 years old, and they share two children together, Savannah Blackstock and Seth Blackstock. |
google, also: Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, is not Jewish, according to CBC and the New York Times. |

If she considers the step kids her kids despite the divorce, then sure - she’s a grandma.
That’s her decision, though. It isn’t an obligation after a divorce. Her children are step siblings to the children from his previous marriage, so that is another level of tie, of course. Feels complicated. Sounds like she has handled things with grace, though. |
| We have no idea how Kelly has handled any of it. She could b being incredibly nasty or nice to his family. Just because she cancelled shows (which performers do all the time), it doesn’t mean she is handling things with grace. I find it interesting how many people have very deeply coded gender norms where they ascribe positive intentions and positive feminine / nurturing characteristics to women when they don’t have information and negative interiors and motivations and negative masculine characteristics to men when they don’t have information. |
Her children are half-siblings to Blackstock’s kids from his first marriage, not steps. Blood relatives. |
She is an unproblematic celebrity with a wholesome backstory (she got famous by winning a talent competition, not making a naughty video.) Anonymous strangers on the internet feel sad that a bad thing has happened to a person who for the most part seems good and decent. It's not that complicated or weird. |
*biting tongue* |
| I don't understand why some articles are still calling him her husband. |
