He wasn't married when he died, why would they mention husband? Where I am from, it is completely normal to mention a partner's name in an obit even if they aren't married.

I don't think there was an affair between then at the time of the divorce, She moved to avoid losing her job, had a fiance and maybe didn't mind being in Montana - she seems like an outdoorsy person. Likely in the years to come, maybe after the cancer diagnosis and after her wedding, her and Brandon started something up. Greg filed for divorce in July of 2023.

Note use of word "love" and not "husband" or "partner". Careful writing there.

It’s pretty common advice to not tell the other spouse. I don’t agree with it but people say that all the time because you don’t know how they will react.
