10 yo DS has a “girlfriend” and my husband is freaking out because she’s older and a grade above him

I don’t think they do anything other than talk to each other at the pool and say hi when they are in groups. I can’t imagine DS has much interest in anything else either. He’s not particularly mature, but he’s definitely been getting his sh*t together a bit more over the past few months. Then again, he’s a 10 year old who will do almost anything for a pack of oreos. Anything we need to address here, or just let be? I mean, she starts middle school in 2 weeks.

You completely skipped the part about "my husband is freaking out"

+1000 Unless this is another country where the girl's parents are trying to arrange a marriage, you really need to back off and let your kid have a life. He may not have a girlfriend at all -- he may wish she was his girlfriend, or maybe they're fast friend and get along great, or who knows. In any event, and 11 year old girl is NOT A PREDATOR. She is a child. Jesus, I feel sorry for some of the kids of people who post on these boards.

Yeah it's more likely that she just has common interests with your son stuff that many of her female peers aren't interested in.
But encouraging boyfriend/ girlfriend at this age shouldn't be happening it's not age appropriate.

And yes someone can be predatory even if only a year older even if a girl.
