OP: I think this is my current plan. But not homeschooling. Lord no. By the end of that, I'll be smoking week along with him.

So do you now regret voting to legalize it?

OP out of every idea here, this was the worst one. He isn’t going to give two craps what a doctor says and you are projecting parenting onto someone else. Put your foot down. Get him tested. Make form consequences. Stick to it.

Wow I totally disagree. I had my ds go to the doc and they could actually hear issues in his lungs from the weed vape. That was a wakeup call for him. Also you can take your kid to the doc and do the other things too. At this age you should come at it from all angles.

Well my pediatrician (who I otherwise love) told my 15 year old that 2ce a month was ok and that he sounded like he had a good handle on it. WTF. Even my kid thought the doctor was way too laid back about it. So believe me, the doctor route can backfire.

My DS started at that age and he almost ruined his future and our family life. Take it very seriously. Educate yourself (Johnny’s Ambassadors is a great start).

Decriminalize is the legal term.

Governments can never make something legal or give freedom to people.

Government and laws can only restrict freedoms, or not restrict them.

You don't understand the law or terminology.

It's a very dangerous thing at this stage of neurological development. I think the parents that let this slide are completely nuts. And basically guilty of child abuse. You are changing their brain development by letting this slide.

OP: That's a little strong considering I just figured this out. I also don't think he's "lost into weed" at this point - he's a basketball player and an A student. But I completely agree it's dangerous. Trying to figure out the best way to intervene, especially bc he doesn't know that I know.

You’re fooling yourself if you think this is too strong. You intervene swiftly and without hesitation. This is SERIOUS!

I smoked weed almost every day of 11th and 12th grade, and I went to Harvard.

I'm generally an anxious person, and I put a lot of pressure on myself. I have always struggled with insomnia, and weed helped me to relax and enabled me to relax and sleep better at that time. Frankly, I think it was healthier than the myriad of prescription drugs my friends were prescribed.

It isn't crack.

The reality is that the weed of today is stronger AND many kids are getting it through vaping which has its own health issues.

OP, I posted earlier about being in a similar situation. I think you need to confirm if it’s vaping or a joint/bong. The latter is much harder to do, and while terrible for lungs, it’s not nearly as bad as a vape. I would have been much more worried if it was a vape because you can do it without thinking, but I never found one. Just weed in a bag with paper.

Do you know how much stronger liquid carts are? Even edibles. Do you know a lot of things are now chemically modified and and things like fentanyl added. Do you know most kids now smoke before and during school, not after or at night to relax. Wake up PP. Not the same. And this kid is much younger.
