MCPS Teachers Not Being Payed?

Anonymous
April Key interviewed for her position and DID NOT get it. That says a lot. I'm hearing rumors of her being shuffled somewhere in the mcps system.

She's in charge of "HR Information Systems," which I presume include Hub+. I'm guessing the former MCPS HR Chief, April Key, oversaw much of the implementation though since Kaylan just started July 1.

Once again thank you to Moderately MOCO the only news site to report this until most jumped in without even giving credit. Thank you Moderately MOCO for fighting for teachers!

I’m not in it for money, but MCEA has fixed two pay issues for me during my career and paid me sick bank during two health crises so I can’t agree with your first statement.

Mcea can pick and choose who they help. They couldn't help me when I had violence in my classrooms and admin were writing bad reviews to cover it up with firing and blaming teachers.

This is why I advise against teaching as a profession. The system is incredibly corrupt.

I have to agree. At least don’t teach at MCPS. This has been the worst experience of my entire life. The lack of support, the gaslighting, the admin blame, the nepotism, the constantly changing initiatives, the falsifying of records…..has caused
my mental health to decline to the point I was suicidal and had to enter treatment. I had disclosed my disability to MCPS and I am firm in my belief (and my doctor) that my admin 100% used it against me. I can’t afford a lawyer like Mr. Engler but the corruption amongst admins is very very deep IMO. The fact that an admin would rather falsify a statement than talk to a teacher directly is a big issue. They are cowards and are harming everyone, most especially students. Why should they listen to teachers when they see all the chaos of the mismanagement in the news? I don’t know how it can be fixed at this point..but they are hurting people deeply.

MCPS admin run like a mafia. They are corrupt liars with unchecked power and seemingly no accountability. It's scary.

Kids were getting violently hurt everyday and admin would just pile more work on new teachers, like a Trumpian distraction. When I pleaded my case to the union I would say how I was the first one in the building everyday and the last one to leave and I was working and grading all weekend. This was all verifiable by the cameras and time stamps on computers. My admin also wanted scripted lesson plans everyday...and I did it. In the end there was no support or protection and it didn't help when teachers started finding out about the broomings - and we would report it naturally-we are mandatory reporters.

i am being nice when I say- admin didn't want to hear about it, they didn't want to know about it, and they get rid of teacher who wanted to protect students by being concerned about it.

Nobody seemed to testify about not getting payed but Rivera-Oven did ask Taylor about a certain position being changed from 10 to 12 months, Taylor said those people are being payed. But apparently many teachers and support staff are not being payed. Does anyone have any information about this? The unions don’t have any press releases about this issue. I was only able to find an article on ModeratelyMOCO: https://moderatelymoco.com/summer-pay-chaos-mcps-employees-still-await-compensation-as-unions-take-action/

I eventually got paid, but I am not sure if my paycheck is correct. I'm also missing some leave from when the HUB transfer took place. When I called ERSC during the year, it was HOURS long wait. You can put your phone number in and they will call you back but that is not helpful if you are teaching. And this summer I have not been able to reach any one. The tickets I put in via the website have either gone unanswered or the answers are vague and not helpful.

It's a technical software and is the responsibility of the Chief Technology Officer.
