Is there a way I can tell my friend she needs new bras?

OP if you are good enough friends to be honest- eg 'that makes you look short/fat/etc' then tell her. If you aren't, don't.

Before I went in for a breast reduction the Dr was like "in baggy clothes, you look fat. Out of them, your whole body is so tiny you are ideal for this breast reduction and will look so much smaller". After the surgery everyone was telling me how small I was and how they had all assumed I was fat as I was top-heavy. I would have RUN to this surgery much sooner if I realized that I looked so overweight based on how busty I was. So maybe start with that- that she is coming off heavier due to bad bra.

I honestly don't care - it was literally the first time I ever noticed this feature on her. Normally I never notice people's boobs.

If she doesn’t usually look like this, why would you think “she needs new bras for dating” and not “maybe the good bras are in the wash” or “she chose something comfortable since she was seeing a friend and not a date.”?

I like the idea of making some new bras and a fitting be a gift - if you can afford it. Make it about the dating. Tell her you heard that a good bra is key to women over 40 entering the dating scene.

I like this approach and going bra shopping together because you need sons new ones and can you go together.

To the person embarrassed to go Trousseau, there’s no need to be. I’m sure they’ve seen it all. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, is just a body. Everybody has bodies. I tell myself this when I’m getting undressed at the doctor’s office too.

No I cannot think of any way you can tell your friend this - - w/out offending her.

Though if she has a good sense of humor you can show her the pic & make an off-hand joke about how transparent her shirt was…..just do not mention anything about her boobs hanging down though.

Or if her birthday is coming up, you can gift her some new bras in her favorite color!

At Nordstrom Rack you can get that $90 bra for half price. Also, think about the bra ROI. You get what, 10 hours of wear. out of it daily? I just did a bra upgrade and it really makes me look better and so I feel better. I managed to hit the anniversary sale at actual Norstrom.

Maybe a more subtle approach taking about yourself. “I went bra shopping last week and I hadn’t realized how stretched out my old ones were. I almost feel like my boobs are back to where they were before kids! The customer service at Nordstrom is life changing.”

She knows what her boobs look like - and if she is interested in fixing it she can take the nudge, and if she doesn’t want to at least she’s not going to be self conscious because of something you said.
