I asked ChatGPT to give me a stereotype and reality check of the students at Rollins: Stereotype: “Preppy, Beachy, Country Club Vibes” Reality Check: Globally Minded, Service-Oriented, and Career-Focused When my senior was considering Rollins, we spoke with an alum who was working in DC. She spoke very highly of her experience. I know they have a accelerated MBA program. To the OP, you might want to check out their alumni social media accounts: https://www.instagram.com/rollinsalumni/?hl=en https://www.facebook.com/RollinsAlumni Here is their student newspaper: https://www.thesandspur.org/ Also, Winter Park is an adorable town and is just steps off of campus: https://www.istockphoto.com/photos/winter-park-florida Looks like they are building new dorms and faculty housing which will be ready for Fall 2026: https://www.thesandspur.org/east-end-neighborhood-housing-update/ ![]() |
Gotta start somewhere and work your way up. What's the problem with that? |
I’m sure that poster is a troll that just can’t cope with the fact the Rollins grads can be just as successful as grads from top SLAC’s. |
Winter Park is amazing. Lots of rich, dumb kids. Literally kids have Ferraris. |
I realize this isn’t the point of the post, but for educational purposes, sailing scholarships aren’t allowed. Schools might get creative for money, but it can’t be for sailing. |
Why would a rich dumb kid go to Rollins? Way better parties at Bama or U Miami than some sleepy LAC. |
So they can play D2 college lacrosse or baseball. 30% of the male students are athletes. |
Why would the other 70% go there? |
Winter Park native. Grew up 4 blocks from Rollins. Back then Rollins was known for preppy, wealthy, pretty kids from the Northeast. Also cute soccer boys, BMWs, and drugs (coke). Friends and I would sneak into frat parties when we were in high school and I’d attend plays with my parents. The campus sits on the shores of Lake Virginia and has a water ski team and a fabulous outdoor swimming pool. Walkable to eating and shopping on Park Ave. People around DMV think it’s a total joke school but I’m sure you can land a job when you get out and enjoy a country club life in the process. Socially speaking a kid who is worried about money would feel out of place. |

Rich kids don’t play D2 sports…it exists for the poor kids that need athletic scholarships. |
