Our coach also did A LOT of private lessons this summer and charged $50 for 30 minutes.

what does that have to do with anything? They were free to do as the wish on their own time.

Of course they are…it’s a great way to supplement their income!

Low divisions probably 4-6 thousand. Middle divisions 6-8 thousand. Upper divisions 8-10 thousand. If you are really rich and live in Bethesda and Potomac you might pay your coach in the 10-15 thousand range. But that’s very rare.

NVSL D1 coach 12,000-20,000 depending on experience

It surprises me that the D1 coach salaries are that low. Our mid tier coach makes $13k. I think he’s overpaid, but if I were D1 I would expect much higher pay!

I have some knowledge of this and I know it’s pretty close if not the full $20. Very experienced, well liked and respected coach who can definitely manage a large team like FV. Not every coach can.

Other coaches for top divisions but maybe not A or B could be in the $12-$15,000 range.

That's absurd. Our teen coaches asked for $30 for 30 minutes and it was absurd too given their swimming abilities or lack there of.

I don't think Rockville pays that much but the top divisions and richer pools do pay a lot, other pools pay a few thousand. If they are running three+ practices a day, two meets a week and organizing everything its a LOT of work.

MCSL Division I-K, head coach gets $13K, Assistant Head Coach gets $5K.

They also make a bunch of $$$ doing lessons.

Good luck finding anything cheaper. Our inexperienced coaches make at least 20 a lesson. You get what you pay for.

Unfortunately, a handful of lessons isn't going to fix poor mechanics.

There's also varying degrees in this. Some of our teenagers have a decade of competitive swimming under their belt, having earned significant experience with different coaching styles, techniques, and swim mechanics along the way. Some have been coaching for years at this point and given their unique skill sets are certainly deserving of higher wages. Others not so much. Agree you get what you pay for.
