How much do head coach's of summer swim teams make? We have a new coach who was even more of a dud than our last dud. He asked me my name and who my children are at our banquet last night. We've met a bunch and my kids go to practice 4 days a week. I never saw him give a bit of instruction to any kids. Feels like the jr coaches did it all. I assume this job pays terribly and that's why we have this dud? Just curious. |
What division?
Higher division = higher salary Lower division = lower salary |
I don't want to give away the team but I'll say high division. |
I've heard $15k-$20k for mid-division. |
That's fairly high for 8 weeks of coaching for max. 4 hours a day. They usually coach at other places as well. |
They work way more than 4 hours a day. That’s just the on deck time. |
Does it matter if the coach knows a parent’s name? There are like over 150 kids on our team, I only care if they know my kids names. |
More like $10k. |
there is absolutely no way a mid division coach gets this much, no way |
200 kids on a team and you think the coaches should remember all the parents names? You sound pretty entitled. |
Why? The other parents manage everything else. Other than seeding for A meets what else do they do? I know kids as young as 19 who have this job. |
Coach’s don’t need to know parents names that’s ridiculous especially on a 200+ team. Kids names they should know by week 2 or 3. |
They show up at all A and B meets, divisionals and all star events. Selecting swimmers for meets takes more time than you think. |
Ask your team rep or club board. |
The size and cost of teams vary, but our team is $200 per kid, and has about 130 swimmers, so a total budget of $26,000 that pays for everything...head coach, all the assistant coaches, all the supplies to run meets and practices, we had to replace the backstroke flags this year, etc. There is no way we could afford to pay $20K or even $15K for a head coach. |
