Where do you shop if you are small enough for children's sizes

If it's about fit, check teen stores like a PP mentioned. Aeropostale, Aerie, American Eagle, etc.

If it's about price and fit, check the teen section of TJ Maxx, shein, stalk the above stores for frequent sales, or do thrift stores.

My sister is your height but thinner and she finds lots of clothes in thrift stores, eBay, Poshmark, etc. She'll try on a more expensive brand like MOTHER and look for it used online.

I'm 5'0" and 95 lbs and I find kid stuff isn't cut right for my hips - though with wider pants in it's not as bad these days.

This reminds me of that parody insta account about the “girl who thinks she’s tiny”.

Not to discount your opinion, but I am the same height, and my clothing sizes vary a great deal between 117 and 107. At 117 I can't fit comfortably into children's XL but at 107 I can, and as PPs have noted, it can be less expensive, especially for basics like base layer "long john" type clothing where the kids styling isn't a factor.

I've had good luck with athletic wear in children's XL although sometimes the tops are a bit tight across the chest.

I am questioning the OP's comment about petites being too short. I've only had that problem maybe once or twice in 40 years of shopping petite clothing.

I will +1 to thrift stores. I have found some of my favorite, high quality pieces at thrift stores when I can fit in the smaller sizes.

I have that issue with most petite clothing. I'm 5,3" but my limbs are proportionally long. The sleeves and inseams on petite clothes are often just a tad too short for me. I just buy regular sizes and get things shortened when needed.

Same, I'm 5'2. I only buy petite in dresses and skirts. Tops and bottoms, regular and have tailored.

If you shop resellers, try brands like Urban Revivo, Peacebird and Giordano. These are Asian brands in the Zara/Topshop/Gap level that make sizes that are common in Asia.

Pp here. You may be able to order these brands online direct and just pay more shipping.

Some of my most complimented dresses are from J.Crew kids. I also have some Target dresses from the kids' section.

-Ann Taylor petite
-Gap or Old Navy petite or size 0 or 00
-Cropped jeans (fit like regular jeans)

Beyond that, just a lot of trial and error. Sometimes extra small actually does fit, or extra extra small or double zero is available.

I don’t really like children’s sizes because the proportions are off, and a lot of times the styling looks like it’s meant for a five-year-old. The only child size things I get (sometimes) are things like jackets/coats or socks and some shoes.

+1 I'm barely 5'.

I have bought children's ski pants; they were so much cheaper, and they actually fit my legs.

I buy children's socks. I'm a size 6 women's shoes so I don't have to buy youth shoes, but my sister wears a size 4 shoes, and she has a really hard time with shoes.

I also buy a lot of youth sizes for my tops. I'm in my mid 50s so my waist is too big for the junior s size, and too small for their plus sizes.

I'm also Asian. DD is tall and skinny, and she can fit into Asian clothing size. Much harder for me. A lot of their clothes are one size fits all LOL. They just expect you to hem it.

No, it isn't true. People like us, barely 5', are super tiny. And I don't play it up. I hate it.

OP here - out of curiosity I took some measurements last night. My bust is 32, my waist is 26, and my hips are 33.

Petites generally feel too short or not proportionate to me so I have very few petite sized clothing. Maybe I have longer limbs, I don't know. Or maybe I just like my clothes a little bit longer.

Really good idea to try some of the teen stores - aeropostale, american eagle, etc. I hadn't though of that.

I will keep searching and I appreciate the helpful responses.
