The above is what saved us from an economic collapse and is what set up the economy for what Trump wants to take credit for. |
Wut When have we NOT had a spoils system? |
+1. Read the news OP. Even when shown that the destruction of federal services is killing Americans (ex lack of preparation for the Camp Mystic floods), MAGA finds something else to blame…. |
The rank and file of federal employees are not political appointees. You just sound ignorant saying things like this. And I suspect you've been told this before. Maybe you should start listening. |
I quit a GS14 position last month. They would have to offer me double the pay for me to ever consider Federal employment again. |
Apparently, you are referencing the head in the snake. Even if you aren’t, you do recognize that your over generalization couldn’t possibly be true. Otherwise, you are not “smart” and a drain on the private sector. |
Pretty much true for most right now. It's what MAGA wanted. |
I'll take things that never happened for $800, Alex. ![]() |
No. We wouldn’t have the current disaster if the Rs had the guts to impeach him when they had the opportunities. Notice that is plural. |
No need to quit. You are serving your country, politicians come and go and none are great. |
We haven’t had one in a very long time. Yes there are political appointees but there is a large civil service that is non-political and has carried out policies of many presidents regardless of party. |
Walter Reed medical center employees are worthless? 1 in 6 federal employees are in medical and nursing positions. |
Also the federal government has (or had) 300,000 people in STEM fields - physical scientists, biologists, chemists, engineers, toxicologists, epidemiologists, microbiologists and so on supporting NASA, DOE, USGS, DOD, NIH, EPA and other agencies. Tremenous expertise. Now being thrown out to be replaced by some MAGA named Jim Bob who only has a GED and believes in "chemtrails" because hes loyal to Trump. What a godawful mess. |
Where my wife works, she was the most junior supervisory employee until the three other managers all retired (taking nearly 100 years of experience with them). Now she finds herself in charge. She's like to leave except...she's not qualified for retirement yet, she can't find another job, and if she left she would be replaced by somebody even less qualified. Her office is providing an important service to the taxpayers, but the political appointees above her don't seem to care. |
Add to that tens of thousands of economists, statisticians, data scientists, cybersecurity and IT experts and so on. Over 20% of the federal workforce has an advanced degree, far higher than most of the US private sector workforce. And now thousands of these experts are being let go, and if they are being replaced at all, are being replaced by teenage nepo babies of big Trump donors like the unqualified, clueless DOGE kids. |
