Exactly!

How long will you blame him? At some point, the disaster will be Trump’s and voters will vote accordingly.

Trumpet got rid of all the good ones. Maybe after he’s gone, and remote work is restored, good ones may be willing to return. There will need to be reparations though.

We already eliminated most of the dumb ones.

Some great talent can stay and hopefully ride it out; to rebuild at a later time. Thank G-d for them. But nobody worth their salt will ever go apply to work for the Feds. Even if you get a stable administration at a later time, America has proven we will just elect a psycho on a whim.

The best hope for recruiting future talent is to sweep the Republicans out of office and undo all of the damage Trump has done.

This. Nobody smart wants to work for an anti-science, Christian nationalist agenda.

Then, you need to increase the pay for professional positions, implement more job security so DOGE can’t happen again, and bring back telework options.

It’s not gonna happen. With the proposed changes to retirement, which will result in even lower pay, mandatory in-person work when housing in Washington is largely unaffordable for the average fed, and the proposal to eliminate student loan forgiveness for federal employees will result in exactly zero intelligent applicants.

We’re going back to a spoils system where most of the staff will change over with each administration. It just won’t be official.

Care to explain? We got Biden because Trump disaster from 2016-2020. People forget so easily.

No, that will happen in 2026 and 2028.

Did we ever have smart rank and file government employees?

What a stupid question. Trump only wants people who will kiss his humongous a$$,!

Nobody "smart" works for the government. They are either worthless, semi worthless or decent IQ with zero common sense. Regardless, not one government employee produces anywhere near what they consume.

Nobody smart makes completely ignorant, uninformed and asinine comments about the federal workforce like the one above.

Really? That's weird, because I worked for the government for a decade before private industry poached me and decided to value me and my experience at half a million a year + bonus. I don't think I was worthless for 10 years and seemingly my private sector employer doesn’t either. I was formerly performing important work though and now I make money for mega corps.

So true! If Biden had not 1) injected $1.9 trillion into the economy in 2021 with his stimulus plan, resulting in high inflation and economic pain for the lower and middle classes, and 2) facilitated the mass entry of millions of migrants, Trump never would have been re-elected.
