My family member is a plumber lol it just popped up on his Facebook feed

How does your family member know your coworker?

How do you know the victim is a biological family member?

I would not tell, because there is no conviction. Once there's a conviction, it's a different thing.

DP

I google people and some mugshots come up. It happens.

Do not wreck this person's life if he's not proven guilty.

If you can follow this, coworker is brother's fiancé's dad's best friend's son...so my future SIL and coworker grew up going to family parties, holidays, vacations, etc together.

He has probably already told his boss which means HR would know.

I would stay out of it and just do your job.

On a different note my boyfriend searched mugshots.com every morning to see who he knew that had been arrested from his high school.

I’m sure others at your employer know if it is on mugshots.com.

Stay out of it and let justice take its course.

I can't think of anything more pathetic than continually visiting mugshots.com to see if anyone I know shows up there.

Won't they find out when the person fails to report to work? One of my co-workers did a hit and run DWI that resulted in a fatality, and he was fired within two weeks.

That's one of the main reasons people use social media, to spy on and gossip about others.

It was designed that way by intel agencies on purpose. User generated intel.

Ooo, this is kind of a tough one!

On the one hand, no one could know that you would know this information. So you can elect to do nothing and tell no one and there will be no consequences for you. This is probably the safest route. It will probably come to their attention some other way.

Otoh that’s a serious charge! If you want to tell them, I would do it anonymously.

Maybe she doesn’t want to work with a violent sexual criminal? Nor should she have to?

Charges aren't convictions. No company should be firing someone for being accused of doing something bad outside of work.

If/when this person is convicted, the situation changes.

Oh man, I do not think this is how it works at all. You can of course fire people before they have a trial. If you have a company policy or a union contract that says so, you maybe have to do paid leave for x amount of time.

But nobody is like “hey, it seems like Don probably strangled his wife fyi but he pled not guilty so have a great shift, everyone!”

He is being charged with aggravated sexual assault and awaiting court. I'm shocked as this is someone I see multiple times per week for several years.

Even worse, the victim is a biological family member.

Do I tell HR? Somehow put this in front of them anonymously? I am not comfortable working in an office alongside him.

Not even convicted yet. So MYOB.

If you raise a fuss and he's proven innocent, you could get sued into the poorhouse, or at a minimum lose your job.

Uh, you definitely couldn’t get sued or fired for this. For pointing out that someone who is probably a fiduciary has public criminal charges? This poster is delulu.

+1 big finance outsources security which monitors police reports and emergency services for possibly affected personnel. My colleague found out his apartment in ny was on fire by a call from HR making sure he wasn’t working from home that day.

Wait, we are supposed to actually believe that your plumber relative happened upon a random coworker of yours because of a mugshot account on Facebook? He clicked through the picture, learned this person works in the same bank as you, and then told you and then the guy just so happens to be in the same area of the bank as you?

1. If this is true, why do you think you’re the only one with such industrious relatives?

2. I don’t believe you.

I think it’s reasonable to assume here that the employer knows given the requirements for brokers. So, if you’re going in and tattling it makes it seem like you’re asking for consequences. If the guy is innocent, it’s a bad look.
