A family member of mine came across a recent mug shot of one of my coworkers (high end finance job) by accident and sent me the arresting information.
He is being charged with aggravated sexual assault and awaiting court. I'm shocked as this is someone I see multiple times per week for several years. Even worse, the victim is a biological family member. Do I tell HR? Somehow put this in front of them anonymously? I am not comfortable working in an office alongside him. |
| Yes, absolutely |
| Innocent until proven guilty? |
|
No way. It'll come out soon enough. "High end finance" guys charged with aggravated sexual assault can't keep it on the down low for very long. Once there's a court date he's toast.
And if he's so dangerous that you don't want to be near him, why do you want to mess with him? |
|
I'd definitely tell someone. I don't want to work with violent criminals.
I came across a mug shot of my colleague a few years ago and I'm also in a high end job - corporate environment where our group makes 300++. It was for drugs and driving under the influence of drugs. He went to jail for a few days. I didn't tell anyone because it wasn't violent. If it were violent, yeah, I'd say something. |
| Go to the library and send it to HR from a burner email. |
This. Tell HR and also likely they can’t do anything about it. |
| Let HR deal with it. Innocent until proven guilty yes but some workplaces will put an employee on leave even if just charged. |

I’m baffled as to why you feel a person who might have assaulted a family member (at home/away from the office) would be a threat to you at work?
Statistically, the probability of being a victim is next to zero, pp. On the other hand, there is a greater likelihood that he will find out (or even assume) you ratted him out to HR. |
| If you are in finance and the person has their series 7, then they are required to tell their compliance department. I would myob. |
| Myob |
| They will find out. Why would you want to be involved? |
| HR most likely already knows |
| What does OP expect to gain by "reporting" this? If it didn't happen at work, the company is unlikely to get involved. |
| I’d report it anonymously |
