Coworker arrested - tell job?

You don’t accidentally come across a mugshot.
If your relative works in law enforcement and gave you this information they could get into trouble.
Unless all the information is public and you can Google it yourself you don’t do anything.

Maybe she doesn’t want to work with a violent sexual criminal? Nor should she have to?

YES tell them ASAP.

Where does your family member work?

Charges aren't convictions. No company should be firing someone for being accused of doing something bad outside of work.

If/when this person is convicted, the situation changes.

What annoys me more than anything is when nosy people won't admit to their nosiness. Your "family member" didn't come upon the information; you did, and you went intentionally looking for something.

It's not your place to report anything. You aren't in imminent danger working with him, and news flash: You work with/engage with plenty of people who do crappy things and fly below the radar/get away with it.

These things never stay quiet, especially if it made the news/his mugshot is online.

I am curious how your family member came across your colleague's mugshot? Are you social? Do they know them? Do you talk about them so much that you use their full government name and they also happen to search mugshots and they found it?

I would not tell, because there is no conviction. Once there's a conviction, it's a different thing.

No. Do nothing.

Why insert yourself into their problems? Why assume they don’t already know?

He is being charged with aggravated sexual assault and awaiting court. I'm shocked as this is someone I see multiple times per week for several years.

Even worse, the victim is a biological family member.

Do I tell HR? Somehow put this in front of them anonymously? I am not comfortable working in an office alongside him.

Not even convicted yet. So MYOB.

If you raise a fuss and he's proven innocent, you could get sued into the poorhouse, or at a minimum lose your job.

I am wondering this too. How does someone “accidentally” come across a mug shot. And that mug shot just happens to be of a family member’s co-worker.

If they're CONVICTED, yes, you should tell HR immediately, so keep an eye on the court case.

But in the meantime... how would you feel about being fired for specious reasons when the real reason is that people suspect you're a sex offender???

I know this is a parenting site and we're all automatically prepared to believe victims, but think about the consequences, OP, if this person is innocent.

Op here. There are social media accounts for mugshots in every major city that have hundreds of thousands of followers each.
