Weird Restaurant Experience

People act like not smelling something they don't like is some god given right and being forced to momentarily smell something mildly unpleasant is a transgression par with being slapped in the face.

My god, I've never seen anything so soft and pathetic. I'd be utterly humiliated if anyone found out I got so bent out of shape by something so insignificant and you all are just putting it out there for anyone to see like.

People not smelling strongly in public is a pretty standard expectation. It’s the pot community who thinks it’s their right to subject the rest of the world to their disgusting habit.

I just don’t get why people like you think you’re superior to anyone? Like if you ever had a glass of wine, you should sit down and STFU.

I wish pot smokers would have to follow the same rules as cigarette smokers.

Honestly, pot smells worse than most tobacco.

What’s gross about Flemings?

Curious too. I have only been to Fleming’s twice, which was a long time ago, but found it nice. That said, I really don’t do steakhouses anymore. Not because I’m a snob, but because I’m cheap. I can grill a steak about as good as any steakhouse, for more than half the price.

Probably because chemically speaking, it's the same substance/odor as skunk spray. Many people find that smell offensive. It's evolutionary.

And yet absolutely nobody creates multiple posts on this forum every week whining that they caught a whiff of a skunk on their drive home.

It has nothing to do with the actual smell, it's 100% awful people trying to show off how superior they are to people who dare to smoke a joint.

Completely disagree. Weed stench can be completely overwhelming, and it would definitely make it hard to enjoy an expensive meal. A lot of how we perceive the taste of a food is tied up in the scent of it. I would have let the water know of the issue and asked to move tables.

It would make it easy to enjoy a cheap meal? In reality OP thought she could hint around to other adults to make her and other adults more comfortable because yet other adults decided to partake in weed smoking. However, speaking clearly and with attribution is too much, despite the high standards and requirements. Grow up. Either pipe up and ask to move or ask THEM to move or suffer through it. This is so textbook.

I haven’t smelled a skunk on my drive home in quite a while. Whereas I smelled an addicts nasty smoke as recently as last time I was outside.

Personally, I think we should have dead skunks in all restaurants. That would help people acclimate to the smell of freedom.

Pot stench is disgusting. And there’s a reason smoking tobacco is banned widely now. Sure the second hand smoke thing is real but overpowering smells degrade quality of life. I hate strong odors whatever they are and nasty skunk smells are really awful. Yuck.

I do not feel superior; I simply want to enjoy public spaces without the nastiness of pot stench.

Um, a glass of wine doesn’t make you stink so much that everyone around you is disgusted.

🙄Maybe because skunks or animals who can’t help their smell and when they do spray, it’s a defense mechanism.

Ps- when we drive through skunk smell we comment about it in the car.
