Newborn doesn't do anything

Newborns are inherently boring, also needy af.

Check with your pediatrician if you are concerned

Just came over from the college board to get a breather - this is hilarious and wouldn't even be sarcastic if I saw it on the college board.

Mention to your pediatrician.

My son slept through his entire first two months. Basically only awake to eat, and even then would drift off midway through a feeding. He’s a happy and alert little two year old now but still has higher sleep needs than his older sister did.

My daughter barely opened her eyes until she was 2 months old. She is 9 months old now and a wild animal.

He's only ,3 weeks old and I always heard it was six weeks if they can't read it was bye bye to Ivy League. But my kids are much older so maybe things have changed,.

My oldest slept only 12-14 hours/day from the beginning. My youngest slept more like 18-20 and the experience was SO different. If he was really sleeping 22 hours/day, I would be concerned... but if he's staying awake to feed and feeding 10-12 times/day, then he's definitely awake more than 2 hours. Accurately report his behavior to the doctor, so that they are aware, but your report isn't particularly alarming for a 3 week old who is gaining weight appropriately.

This is normal. Around 6 weeks social smiling starts and it really makes you start to feel like your baby is actually interacting.

Those people are nuts.

Better than those who claim that their children are already talking at 3 weeks

Sorry your kid failed to launch. At 3 weeks, my child was already accepted to a T20 and has internships lined up at MBB.

Who told you his sleep is more than average?

I read it. Max is 18.

No there is no maximum amount of newborn sleep. throw the books away.

+1 watch the baby, not the book. If he's eating well, peeing, growing, he's totally fine. Just a sleepy baby.

Those first three months really are the "4th trimester" If they didn't need to get out because of size limitations, they'd probably stay inside another three months! I remember my pediatrician advising that for the first three months, it's just about feeding, sleeping, holding. Don't expect anything else.

They are parasites from conception to birth connected to you by a real umbilical cord and they are connected to you by an invisible umbilical cord to eternity. Be grateful for the rest you are getting.
