Drinking wine every night

Our DS has a preference for National Bohemian Lite so no wine with dinner.

It has nothing to do with puritanism. Have fun with lover failure due to daily booze consumption.

Alcohol associated liver failure is worse in Europe than the US for a reason. We need to stop with the stupid message that alcohol is healthy. No amount of alcohol consumption is safe or healthy. A glass of wine is not going to extend your lifespan. All it does is increase your risk for developing a bad habit and addiction.

I'm not looking to extend my life. I'm looking to make it as pleasant as possible. Hopefully, far away from people like you.

Yeah, see how nice your life is with end stage liver failure.....

It's horrendous.

Being overweight can cause that also. Fatty liver. 70% of Americans now have that, up from 10% just 25 years ago.

LMAO nothing is "safe" or "good" for you. Safety is an illusion.

Human body is programmed to live about 160 years. Almost everything we do to it reduces that number in some way or another.

Well, study after study after study shows alcohol (no matter the dose) is a carcinogen. This has nothing to do with being puritanical.

Wait 6 months and the guidelines will change. Is this your first experience with “science?”

Eh....In 2022, researchers released findings that alcohol actually shrinks your brain. If you have ever experienced a family member suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's, this alone should make you think twice about drinking regularly.

Based on the number of people I know who didn't drink and had dementia or Alzheimer's, I think I'll take my chances.

Ms. Morality police, are you telling me that you are a healthy, in shape, grow your own food person, because if not, don't lecture us.

I have an incredible social life. Having a blast in my 50s. It was worth it!

I'm watching one of my parents disappear in front of my face, even though they are still physically present. Maybe I can do something to reduce the risk my kid has to see the same thing. Alcohol isn't that important.

You know now that you mention it, there might be a link there, some sort of protection that moderate alcohol consumption provides.
Interesting rabbit hole that will have to research some.

Europeans are not the drunkards you seem to think they are. Attitudes have changed a lot in recent years. When I was little, some of my relatives used to drink every day, lunch and dinner. My private school had little pitchers of red and white for teachers to drink with their meals.

Now it's not like that anymore. Very few people drink at lunch, and drinking at dinner is decreasing significantly. No one I know drinks every day. A lot of studies have come out about the dangers of alcohol, and people listen.

Good luck. It doesn't exist.

You won’t get liver failure from a daily glass of wine.

This certainly is the news as entertainment headline.

But what those studies say is a lot more nuanced.

And basic science needs to be layered in as well..

For example, drinking a glass of wine at a moderate pace with dinner vs a glass of wine quickly with nothing else has dramatically different risk profile for damaging cells in the mouth, throat, and digestive tract.

Prove it doesn't exist. That's how you do science, to disprove something over and over.

You won't get anything good from it either.

DP but what is your agenda with the teetotalism and prohibition?
Religious thing?
Needing company thing?
Certainly not a scientific one.

Should introduce him to the world of beer. That's a very basic and not very good or healthy beer. Fine for a hot summer day after a mow I suppose.
