NCAP and tyr

They are doing the same as Machine did when they moved to TYR, all apparel is in house now. I know Machine has multiple machines for apparel printing.

It doesn’t matter. The whole point seems to be that they don’t have to go through a middle man… such as metro swim shop….

Exactly, why pay full price at a store vs the discount via the club. No brainer.

As an NCAP family this seems like a total win for us. I will have to take my swimmer to Metro to get fitted since she’s never worn TYR before but the added discount we are getting and the ability to buy directly from the club is great.

Where is the Metro store?

Fairfax, 11215 Lee Highway. It’s around the back side of the shopping center.

NP, and I’d also suggest calling before you go to be sure they’re open. It’s a small shop, and opens late/closes early a lot. You can get updates on that from their FB page as well.

Metro Swim over in Fairfax is incredible. The manager’s name is Jill. We literally drive over from Maryland about 45 minutes each way to pick up stuff for all of our kids multiple times per year. Yes, our club offers a discount on some items through their store, but for tech suits and things where the kids want to try it on and see the item up close with professional advice standing next to them, that location just cannot be beat.

+1 Jill and Metro are amazing. These direct deals between clubs and brand reps have hurt small businesses like these. We do buy tech suits directly from our club rep (cost effective and convenient), so I try to support metro with my other swim purchases.

Is there an aquablade-like Tyr suit? Our NCAP coaches told our 12U kids they need to wear Tyr. None of us are happy. We like Aquablades, and we like Arena Powerskin 2.0 kneeskins. 😡

This isn't a college-level image and likeness situation. If they're not going to literally kick you out of the club, wear what you want. And if you want a better answer, go to club management, not the coaches, who are likely just doing as they're told over this.

Hate Speedo. Sure wish our club would switch.

That’s what we figured, because that’s how it was with Speedo. Our kids go to NCSA, but that’s the biggest meet. We figured the Tyr mandate would only follow Gold (and maybe Silver) I. For planning purposes in case it’s true, can someone kindly suggest the Aquablade and Powerskin 2.0/Next Tyr-equivalents?

It was in the registration email. Reminder for 12 & Under athletes– our new team suit is called the TYR Durafast Elite.

Also, I don’t think the suit is an issue until you get to national meets (Futures, etc).

We used to be at NCap and it was all “you must wear Speedo”

Learned quickly that even if the kid didn’t like Speedo you wore Speedo….bc NCap is always just trying to make money

Does Machine have a brand mandate? AAC doesn’t and neither do the smaller teams- I’m not sure what’s in it for the kids to be so rigid
