NoVa area prestige ranking

Old Towne has a lot of criminal areas the public schools make that apparent

Kingstowne should be higher

How is Herndon or Annadale higher than Kingstowne

I truly don't get the worship of Mclean. It is ugly and soulless and dominated by a monstrous mall and horrendous traffic. Absolutely nothing charming. If it's all about Langley high school, thats just stupid. And good luck getting your "super star" kid from LHS into a top 25 college anymore. Not to mention the drugs and pressure cooker, entitled social scene. I'll pass.

I don't think Annandale and Lorton belong in the same tier as Clifton.

I also think Springfield should be divided between Central Springfield, West Springfield, and North Springfield. It's a big area and West Springfield is much more like Burke.

Absolutely correct regarding Springfield. West Springfield is literally on the edge of both Fairfax Station and Burke and North Springfield is practically Annandale.

Del Ray is above most of that list, especially Oakton. Del Ray and Old Town are two of the only places in NoVA with any character.

And as far as prestige, The Plains and Middleburg >>>> McLean and Great Falls.

Tier 2 is
Old Towne
Vienna
Oakton
Falls Church City
Fairfax Station
Clifton
Burke

Tier 3
Lorton
Ashburn
Leesburg
City of Fairfax

Tier 4
The rest
Tier 4
15. Chantilly
16. Annandale

What is Old Towne? Why is there an E at the end? huh?

I agree with the bolded, but you can keep Del Ray. I would not live there or Old Town.

Luckily, everybody can like different things, which is why "prestige" ranking is pointless. The people who live in Fairfax City love it, for example: they are not wishing they lived in Burke.

Tier 1: McLean, Langley, Arlington (esp North), Alexandria (esp Old Town), Vienna, Falls Church City, Oakton

Very accurate ranking

Tier 1:
1. McLean
2. Great Falls (esp Langley)
3. Old Town Alexandria
4. Arlington (esp North Arlington)
5. Vienna
6. Falls Church (city)
7. Oakton

Tier 1 homes cost slightly less as the bathrooms do not require exhaust fans.

+1 as someone who's involved in real estate

I don’t think you can rank within the tiers though because it just seems splitting hairs over individual choices (commute, feelings on walkability, etc).

Alexandria (outside of Old Town) is definitely not the higher than Burke. You are talking about the areas off Route 1 going south, right?

Who the hell would ever pick some Toll Brothers POS in some HOA in Burke over Del Ray?

NP. One reason is the public schools. Del Ray is ACPS, which is an educational disaster. Burke is FCPS, maybe not as great as 20 years ago, but at least the FCPS students will be physically safe.

I don't understand why you have Arlington in its entirety vs just signaling out OT of Alexandria. Arlington County is huge, and has plenty of sketch and ugly areas. Plenty. It should be North Arlington as 4.
