Mine included a resume b/c there were a lot of awards and activities that couldn't all fit. My other one will do the same.

This Northwestern résumé mother is crazy. There is nothing in a resume that couldn't be conveyed in the Common App.

Lots of examples above. Especially if you have a very specialized area of interest in theater, arts, stem, or work experience.

If your kid is a theater major and has been in 30 performances, there’s no way that is conveyed in the common app. You should absolutely have a specialized résumé for all of the theater experience.

Search a little about this.

Mine got into Northwestern without the résumé, but did not have any specialized experience in this space.

There’s a lot of information from former Northwestern AOs about how they use the résumé for certain majors.

Sure. That common app never gives you the opportunity to discuss those areas, eh? Harvard and MIT are doing it all wrong.

Only certain colleges like the résumé. Don’t submit it everywhere, even if they will accept it.

Do some research.

Example: if your child plays a Spring Sport and had a required out of town competition on both the scheduled and the makeup day.

This is just plain wrong.

Agree - DC did not report scores and got in to many T15's.

Not true. There are plenty of kids that bomb the test and just don’t report. Frustrating but that’s test optional for you

She is still relying on her experience 10 years ago to inform current students. She is shockingly misinformed of current AO practices.

how is adding "by end of junior year" impressive here? you apply senior year. I can see why you might add "by end of freshman year" or even sophomore year ..but getting 5 AP scores of 3 by end of junior year isn't notable.

This just makes me so sad for kids who don’t have college educated kids, parents who aren’t prepared to make educating themselves in this way a full time job, or the ability to pay for a college counselor.

Say what you will, but this comment is a perfect example of why the rich will get richer.

Not sure why this comment makes you think this. This comment makes me think how rich people are probably wasting their money or not getting their monies worth, etc.
