Yes, you do. All of your goods are cheaply made elsewhere, no matter how much you pay for the branding. Let's not forget that to the hyper rich that run the show, we are all the help. Just because the magas are dumb doesn't mean that we have to be dumb, too. |
Oh okay, that’s a good solution. Thrift stores. Thanks. |
This is America, if that company gets any bigger private equity vultures will buy it and loot the whole thing. But pat yourself on the back you have temporary solutions to sock buying. |
Yeah, them college boys and their fancy pants ideas about moving to service based economy because we became a power house nation that values higher education. Fk em! We don’t need em. We need factories that make jingoistic platitudes! And we need to bust all unions so kids can work there! |

Do you buy garlic from China? |
This may be the one good thing that comes from tariffs. They slowing down of trends and fast fashion, because most of us won't be able to afford to buy new clothes and shoes any more. |
Probably, because the cheaper garlic at the grocery store isn't labeled. I only know it's not from China if I buy it from a local farmer. |
+1 |
Except for the very poor in the US, most of us have too much stuff. It's just that the Americans who actually work for Walmart won't be able to afford much food and medicine. |
Interesting data on Chinese imports....unlike European goods, most of the money stay in the US!
"When you buy a new t-shirt in Manhattan, some of the money goes to the manufacturer in China, and some of the money goes to the US company that sells the t-shirt. Looking at the distribution of expenditures on imports shows that for China, 56% of the money paid stays in the US, and 44% goes to China, see chart below. The bottom line is that more than half of the money paid for US imports from China stays in the US. ![]() |
Reagan started NAFTA Bush made the deal Clinton signed it Learn some history. I'm old enough to remember when all that happened. I'm in my 50s. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/january-1/nafta-comes-into-effect-us-mexico-canada-trade

But Reagan and Bush were. |
It’s never NOT amusing to watch the MAGAs punch themselves in the balls for Trump, who would gladly have them jailed or killed for the most of minor things if he could get away with it. It’s like watching children insist that they aren’t tired as they are in the midst of a tantrum. |
Because it's where US industries outsource their manufacturing, and Europe isn't. In apparel manufacturing is usually at most 25% of the purchase price and that is largely material costs. Companies that do finish in the US often still import materials. Many US jobs are contingent on oversees manufacturing. |
