I’m older Gen X, and also disappointed in my generation. In the 80s, so many movies and TV shows had a teenage male hero who wanted to go to an Ivy League college and make a killing on Wall Street (Ferris Bueller, Risky Business, Family Ties, etc.) That was the model being held up for us. Hippies were out, greed was in. Kids walked around with popped collars and Vuarnet sunglasses praising Reagan. Those are the people now voting MAGA.

I’m a younger gen x and all I can think is these people are thinking that “Hoggish Greedly” was one of the good guys in Captain Planet. I had to google the name but at least it fits.

Gordon Gecko was supposed to be a cautionary tale, but became a role model.

How are they not the most beta of all?! They want a king. They want an autocracy. Which means they lose their freedom and livelihoods. How is that not emasculating?
