Getting mentioned in SoccerWire

If your team is going to recommend 3-4 players each year for the ID camps and USYNT camps, then parents are often doing everything they can to make the coaches job easier for writing this recommendations.

Having a paid profile does help you kid get featured. But coaches get an opportunity to list their tournament favorites also.

You seriously think a kid will get invited by US Soccer to a camp based on them getting mentioned on a hype social media site?

We do not pay to be a "featured" player on Soccerwire. We do pay to get access to read the articles on topdrawersoccer and prepsoccer.

DD was written up in soccerwire ahead of one of the showcase events for ECNL. It was a nice surprise since we don't pay for their services. Club coach may have had some influence on that for sure.

I do know that club coaches can influence write-ups in the various online soccer related sites. They told us as much.

At this point, she is kinda over all this sort of stuff and looking forward to finishing up this year and moving on to her senior year in the Fall.

Your local club coaches get 1-4 player nomination slots for the big regional YNT camps. Some club coaches and coaching staff can be influenced by a number of factors, including the savy social media family who always gets positive attention to their own club. There are lots of great players, but quirky qualities can make certain players stand out more.

I'm not sure of the return on investment other than the views and likes to the IG page benefit and the kid having 18 seconds of fake fame till the next clickbait pops up

I suppose so but at least for the boys, most of the kids I’ve seen highlighted are pretty good.

So the 10 seconds of IG exposure does what exactly?

Teach them they need superficial external validation, from people who some don't even really support them

Top Drawer Soccer is legit--coaches do look at who they feature and they tend to feature very good players. Their problem is that their lists very rarely change.... Whoever gets on it by U14/15 is largely kept on it through U19--and then its about players moving up or down some spots. They very rarely add 'new' players ot the top 200--it happens but in the handfuls--not beyond.

Yeah - there is some movement but not a ton unless the player is getting invites to USYNT camps and such. Coaches can also influence who gets on the list to begin with as well.

Which coaches where are looking at who they feature and what actions do the coaches take?

What I've never seen is a post from a parent or kid that says they were contacted by a high level team or coach because of their social media posts

Then given a roster spot
