How is this even a question. The 5pm arrival hands down. If $hit hits the fan flight wise you have later options. You're SOL until the next day with the second option.

You’d be lucky to arrive at 1am wirh the 11pm flight. |
I have to agree with a PP that leaving mid-afternoon from this area in the summer can be a roll of the dice due to thunderstorms both here and in Florida. We've traveled to Florida a lot during the summer over the years and always try to leave in the morning to lessen the risk of storm delays on either side. |
Get in at 5pm. |
My recommendation is to go with the later flight. |
You want to have a leisurely dinner with the same people before you get to the airport instas of in the new location? Honestly you are an enigma to me. Why bother travelling? |
+1 Also planes seem to be getting delayed a lot lately. That will put you in past midnight. Ugh. |
It is not really an experience topic. It really is a personal preference topic. |
My recommendation is to stay home as it seems you are incapable of basic decisions that are necessary if you travel away from your residence. |
+1000 sorry! |
Earlier flight, and if you don't feel like going out to eat when you get to your hotel, just Uber Eats some food to the hotel for dinner. |
Earlier. Leaving late in the day in summer from dc is thunderstorm and delay prone. Just order takeout to the hotel. |
+1 I still remember running in Detroit with my heels in hand to catch the last NorthWest flight to DC (gates had changed and I went to the one mentioned on my ticket). Since it was their hub, someone in another counter called my gate and asked them to wait for the last passenger (me). I still remember the death stares I got from everyone inside the plane. Good times! |
If that was the old Detroit airport, that could be quite a distance between gates on different, super-long piers, with no moving walkways. That place was such a dump! |
Miami has entered the chat! |
