I don't like late check ins due to most everyone else has already checked in. Unless you have a designated room already secured, then you will get whatever is left.
There is also greater chance of flight getting cancelled as last flight out. I understand your reasoning, but on travel days, we generally are ready and excited to get on with it. |
Never take the last flight of the day.
You won’t have a relaxing dinner and day even if you opt to take the later flight. Everyone will be scrambling to finish packing and prep for the trip. Take the earlier flight and deal with dinner once you’ve arrived. |
Something is wrong with you. Take the earlier flight. You are ridiculous who in their right mind thinks this way. Omg poor you having to drop bags at hotel then dinner. A 5pm flight if on time you won't even get out of the airport til 6pm. More often than not flights to Miami are delayed if you think you are getting in on time at 11pm you are stupid. If you don't care how late your kids are up take the later flight don't in anyway think one time is fastest at getting anything done. |
Definitely the 5pm. By the time you get off the plane, get into the Uber, get to the front desk, it'll be 6pm so you likely aren't going to be waiting in a huge check-in line. Walk or Uber to a restaurant.
With the 11pm, if there's a delay, you don't want to get in at 1/2am. I would only take the later flight if there were significant cost differences. |
5 pm flight. Bring food bars to avoid the hangries.
You can leave bags with bellperson at hotel, take a leak go to dinner. Come back check in and get into room. If no line check in on arrival while rest take leaks and then go to room after dinner. |
I took a late flight on a Saturday to Miami ~10 years ago. Getting in at 10pm felt very frantic and rushed. Because I was staying in South Beach, Saturday night was in full swing when I got there. Arriving at 5pm (when my friend got there) was better.
I think it kind of depends on where you're staying, but I wouldn't want to be arriving in a place with any kind of nightlife with my kids at midnight on a Saturday. |
Earlier flight. Eat at the airport after you land then uber to your hotel. You have the rest of the trip to enjoy restaurants. Check in, unpack, shower and go to bed early. Wake up the next day and enjoy your trip. |
Dear Lord, why would you elect to eat at the airport unless you have to? Just Uber to the hotel and go somewhere within walking distance. I was in Miami airport yesterday around 6 and had to choke down a mediocre 24 dollar Caesar salad. You can do way better than that by getting to the hotel. |
I always choose the earlier flight when able in case there are issues with delays, cancellations, etc. |
Unless you have a good reason, take a flight in the morning so you can enjoy the day there? |
5 pm flight 100% |
+1 this is terrible advice. get some snacks if you need them but do not under any circumstances stay at the airport to eat dinner after arriving! just get your bags and uber to the hotel. team 5pm but 11pm is two hours past my bedtime and i feel crabby even thinking about dealing with an airport and traffic that time of night. |
Eh, it’s not so bad to eat at the airport if you’re hungry. There’s some good options these days. If you’re hungry, you’re hungry, you don’t wanna be hangry when you’re traveling. |
they're getting in at 5! |
I would 100% take the flight that arrived at 5pm. Best case scenario, it arrives on time and I’d go for a walk in Miami that evening. Worst case scenario with the 5pm flight is arriving super late. I would personally prefer not to arrive at the hotel midnight or later.
The only scenarios in which I would choose the flight arriving at 11pm is if I was trying to avoid taking time off of work or if it was massively cheaper. |
