Right. The part you are ignoring is that there is zero reason Elon Musk should have full access to those records to do anything he wants to with them. |
PP here. I didn't say that. Just commenting that he's very high functioning in compatison to most. . |
Under normal circumstances, you have to consent before your data can be used for research. And you have to be re-consented before researchers can use your previously collected data for something other than what you consented to. |
And normally, anyone claiming that they’re medically unable to work voluntarily submits their medical records. See how this is different? There’s no special database of people with a specific diagnosis. This means that they’re open about combing SSI records, Medicaid records, Medicare records, plus records from private insurance companies, pharmacies, smart watches and fitness devices. They’re not even trying to pretend that they’re only looking for what they say they are. |
No. “Most” neurodivergent are high functioning. Most actually didn’t have daddy’s money and a complete disregard for social norms, but good for him. And the fact that his high functioning seems to surpass most “neurotypical” people, should everyone be on a registry? There are also a lot of rich people not really contributing much, not paying what should be their fare share of taxes vs income and evading laws. Most are probably on prescriptions like ED medicine and painkillers or stimulants. Should they be on a registry? |
And they voluntarily submit them for a specific reason, not for any future use. |
Love it. Just got laid off with this sweep of DOJ grants. No more income tax generation from me. |
How can this be stopped? I am so upset. |
WTAF is your point? They should be institutionalized? Steralized? Euthanized? Or what? |
Your ignorance is showing. |
+1. This is really bad. I work with people medical records for a federal agency. You want to know who has an unplanned pregnancy, asks about abortion and subsequently has a pregnancy loss in Texas? It’s there. Now, I would never highlight, bookmark or point this out in a write up because it has nothing to do with my reason for reviewing the medical records. I also know who is on ED meds, who is in rehab and whose urine tests positive for what. Again, not something I would ever mark or write up (unless substance abuse was legally an issue). But, I’m a professional civil servant who has had training in appropriate handling of PII and PHI (and has ethics and morals and takes the whole nonpartisan administration of government functions things seriously). Can you say the same for Elon Musk? Because DOGE is in my agency and has accessed these records. Which means Elon has a personal copy. And way more than half the country has given him access to their medical records through the VA, SSA, Medicaid or Medicare (or Department of Education for autism). An Autism registry is bad. And Musk has access to what he needs to make a good start of a registry. But there are actually even worse places to go, like mining records for women suspected of taking medication to have abortions in red states and pursuing criminal cases. Which should only happen after the men’s ED registry is made public, IMO. (And no, neither should EVER happen). |
Call your congressmen. Congress is the only real check here. Also, protest, raise awareness, donate, and FFS vote for VA Governor in 2025 and Congress in 2026. For now, Rs in Congress are sitting back and watching. The Courts can’t stop an idea. RFK would have to start the process for them to enjoin it. |
+1. In some ways he’s actually not that high functioning. His interpersonal skills and obsessive behaviors, for example, are worse than many autistic young adults I know. |
Yeah, I am a dem, represented by VA senators and Connolly. I can call them but that serves no point. |
I work with and evaluate kids and young adults who are on the autism spectrum, and we have two adult males with autism in my extended family. I'm fully aware of the spectrum. Despite the issues you mentioned, he would be viewed as high functioning. |
