By contrast Holy Cross counts Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice Roberts wife, Anton Scalia’s son. Btw, Senator Welch of Vermont Is a HC grad as is Dr Fauci. Sure Midd has some wall st types but Holy Cross has lots of CEO’s including several women- Jet Blue, Under Armor list is long.

Not Midd or HC but St Lawrence can claim Susan Collins (regardless of your politics, she’s a longstanding senator), Viggo Mortenson, Kirk Douglas, and Martha McCallum. Many CEOs and finance leaders, as well as a well-funded endowment.

SLU doesn’t get enough love on this board and it’s normally not worth the fight to go up against the Ivy/UVA/Catholic/NESCAC conglomerate here on DCUM; but, since it’s already on OP’s list, it’s worth letting them
know it’s a more than viable alternative.

+100 on St Lawrence. It’s a great school.

^CEO of Goldman Sachs is a Hamilton grad while the CEO of JP Morgan is Tufts graduate. Both have been in those roles for a long time.

St. Lawrence is a good option. The kids I’ve known how went there have been friendly, outdoorsy, athletic, and smart enough if not superstars.

Whitman great, and if you’re going there you might as well check out Puget Sound, which is lovely, friendly, and has an honors program. Maybe head down to Oregon and see Reed and Lewis and Clark, but those might tip too lefty/crunchy.

This poster was likely referring to Ted Pick, Chairman & CEO of Morgan Stanley (not JP Morgan) and John Waldron, President and COO of Goldman Sachs.

Surprised David Solomon is still helming GS. Employees hate him. Event students from Hamilton dislike him. Sounds like a real jerk.

My kid is a double legacy + at Midd but didn't want to apply. She did apply to St Lawrence based on multiple GREAT things we heard / read about it. Unfortunately, she withdrew her application (grrr) but I would have loved her to go there. +1 to Colorado Collge. And yes, DU gave a ton of merit aid by D didn't like it.

Colorado College basically doesn’t give merit. But U Denver an option.

No Merit

Not exactly like Midd but St Lawrence and Hobart William Smith are solid alternatives in NY. There are many options to explore in PA. Gettysburg, comes to mind.

Taking skiing out of the picture - William and Mary might be something to consider. You will not get merit - but it is a public so a little cheaper.

Hobart has an interesting environmental science option with the finger lakes right there.

Totally different - U Mass Honors (?) - does not feel anything like Middlebury with the exception of it being in New England - but it might surprise your student.
