I'm a scientist who publishes. This is likely another DEI probe- journals are often asking authors to address how they have handled items such as lack of racial diversity of their samples and other DEI considerations. These are instructions to authors that are publicly displayed on the websites.

I think it's more related to COVID.

Bhattacharya is a signatory on letters calling peer-reviewed papers in Science and elsewhere that support a natural origin for SARS-Cov-2 “potentially products of scientific misconduct—including fraud” and deserving of retraction—a stance the journals have rejected. This is not the DC Attorney General. This is the US Attorney General for the District of Columbia. The two positions are not the same and have different authority. It is akin to the NY AG is different for the USAG for NY. Two different positions with different authorities and responsibilities.

The DC AG doesn't prosecute street crimes the way other AGs do. So this is totally with the purview of the office that he was elected to fill.
