I hate Amanda Peet's character. She whines that she cheated on her dh because he wasn't present enough. Meanwhile, he was busy providing for her extravagant lifestyle. And now that she ousted him from her life to shack up with her affair, he is being SO nice to her and she continues to whine about him being not present enough while asking for more, more and more money. She is a selfish and clueless princess. |
Amanda Peet’s relationship with the basketball player isn’t convincing. But unlike a lot of commenters on this thread, I love me some Jon Hamm. |
Love it! |
Nor would a literal bball superstar move into said lady’s house. He’s richer than her. That Bugged me. |
Agree. They are trying to make her sympathetic, but the fact is she cheated. I was glad in the last episode they showed that the teens were not buying into Nick at least. At first it seemed like with John Hamm’s narrative he was the bad guy and everyone else was happy, and I was glad to see this layer of complexity added that they’re not so into their mom either. I do get frustrated with John Hamm‘s character not just being more honest with her. I was infuriated when he didn’t say no to the thousand dollar a week professional coach. I know it’s all about men’s ego and stuff, but I was just frustrated that he wasn’t like look, I took a new role and it’s going to take some time and we can’t take on these costs. But I guess that wouldn’t make for an interesting TV show of course. I do like how this show reflects some of the realities of male aging. I feel like the narrative on many movies and shows for so long is that the washed up menopausal woman gets the shaft and the men get a soft landing into old age. They are really sticking to these men with their stupid hobbies and need to escape and disconnect from the realities of aging, showing that the more they get what they think they want the more they realize how unsatisfying it is. |
He would also be with a 30yo woman, max, not a woman who looks older and just ok with no qualities. |
The basketball player has his own house. Seems like he just spends some nights with her, but in the last episode, he hosted a party for the men at his very nice mansion. |
This. |
Right, I saw episode 3 too, and the house was surprising and took away any plausibility: The relationship would make some sense if he were using her for her money and was poorer than she is. He is clearly much richer. So why is he with her? Not looks, not age, she does nothing all day and has nothing going on plus she has two teens and what single man wants all the baggage? It's not realistic. |
No ring cameras. No motion sensors. Not believable for sure. |
I didn’t realize she was married to game of thrones co-creator. She looks amazing for 53! And when looking her up saw this photo from 10 years ago with her 3 kids in airport- she looks same to me now as did then. Good genes!

Married to game of thrones guy who is son of former Golden Sachs CEO. SO much $$$$$ in that family so is a choice to age naturally— or at least with a really good doctor so not noticeable. |
And they keep saying to him, that happened two years ago, get over it already. Two years ago isn't that long ago! Most people wouldn't forgive this in a lifetime. |
I’m really enjoying it! |
Right? She is so flippant and feels zero guilt flaunting the relationship in front of him, inserting the guy into her house and life, always being around in their social circle instead of maybe, possibly sometimes letting him have the event to himself and a bit of distance. It took Olivia Munn spelling it out for her to realize that she was the bad guy in her marriage because she cheated! And even after that, she came to bug him about buying the lessons. He is much too nice to her. |
