Middle aged men wearing white sneakers

Nio. Reminds me of tennis players. Seems preppy and basic.

But as time has passed, it feels like a clear sign that it's a middle aged man trying to seem relevant. DH has moved on from those, but I don't love the look, especially when you see a guy in a suit with white-soled "modern" wingtips.

But those aren't what we're talking about. Just normal white sneakers. Which look great on guys.

I'm the PP and agreed. I thought that after I hit submit. I should have at least clarified that I think all white soled shoes (including tennis shoes and other) look like the middle aged guy is trying to seem young and relevant.

I think both are bad on middle aged men for similar reasons. Tacky, for one, and it just seems like you’re trying too hard to look hip and younger than you are. Masculine middle aged men can be stylish, of course, but it should be done in a mature, classic and effortless way.

The worst look is men (of any age) who wear skinny pants and then cuff them. Or cropped pants. Now THAT's a look that gives me an instant ick.

Didn’t one of the male characters on Succession get ridiculed by the old money family members for his tacky bright white sneakers?

A lot of things "in style" don't look good or masculine, especially on men in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Trendy appearance is something teens and maybe recent college grads worry about.

How would you feel about a group of men saying this about women who are still trying to look somewhat stylish in middle age? We'd call it misogyny.

This has been the look in Europe for quite some time and majority of them look fantastic, you need to travel more and look at fashion trends outside your 20 mile radius.

My teen and college boys LOVE them. White old man sneakers are the it sneakers right now. And by white I mean the shoes, not the race of the old men.

And why do the high school and college boys love them?

Mine say it is because they are sooooo comfortable.

Which is exactly the reason all the middle aged men wear them. Their bodies are starting to ache, so thick soled super cushioned uber supportive sneakers are the shoe of choice.

Well, I really disagree with this.

Found the 38 year old trying to hold onto her 20’s.

That’s not feminine, that’s demonic.
