Handmaid's tale, season 6

Hey, finally people who forgot Nick is a Gilead soldier and murdered people to overthrow his own government can finally wake up and smell the crap he’s been cooking. He’s not a hero. Never has been. I hope he goes down with the ship.

Guys, we saw this coming, right?

That scene was a major plot point critical to propelling the final series forward.

Let’s face, this season has been a snooze fest until this episode, right?

But we knew May Day’s plan would never work. Too easy. Too soon in the season to have such a big event.

The closet scene made a few big points:

1. Nick is scared and desperate to save himself.

2. June still loves Nick (or did).

3. Fiery, badass June is back. And that’s the biggest shift: we need June to be fired up and ready to fight. She’s been rather blah this season, and we need a hero to do something big.

PS - Lawrence remains the gem in this boring slog of a show.

Good summary.

I know it's wrong, but I still sort of have mixed feelings about Nick, largely from the way he's been portrayed. I don't even really blame him for giving up the Mayday plan. Everyone in Gilead is desperate to save themselves, and after Nick was confronted about being at Jezebel's and a guard went missing the Mayday plan wasn't going to happen anyway.

I'm honestly tired of June. I just need them to get it over with already. I did sort of enjoy the scene with her and Serena, particularly the line about not being able to forgive her, but wishing that she could.

Lawrence is a gem, as is Janine (Madeline Brewer). I am loving this resourceful, confident Janine even if it's because she really doesn't have anything left to lose.

Good episode this week! I know their plans never go off exactly as planned, but man I hope this wedding is a murder-fest. Godspeed, Handmaids. Maybe Rita will have also poisoned the wedding cake. One can only hope.

I think this season is great! I don't get all the hate. I can't wait for the next episode. Will it be the season and show ending episode?

The last episode was the best one of this season…aside from the ending with June’s cheesy ending to her prayer.

I hope Aunt Lydia returns to join the fight. I want to see her cut off the hands of the guy who has been abusing Janine.

It's just like grays anatomy / misery porn at this point. The same formula over and over. The show made its point but talk about flogging a dead horse.

I don’t think Aunt Lydia’s story will be quite that dramatic (although it would be fun!), but I’m sure it’ll set her up for The Testaments. I have a feeling both Nick and Janine will die.

Nick has the head of an adult and the body of a 10 year old. June is just not cute enough to have all these dudes into her like this.

I think June is going to end up on the wall, and Nick will be the one who put her there. Revenge for rejection.

We already saw Nick nursing that self-pitying, "I'm so misunderstood" resentment with a stiff drink. In Gilead, it's a short walk from there to the wall.

I say this as someone who has mostly liked Nick.

No way June dies.

I think she kills Nick and he makes a whiner speech at the end. This show has become more relevant as the years have gone by. Fred was a mediocre white dude elevated to importance through circumstance, and Nick is similar, but with an inferiority complex to boot.

I think the cake will be poisoned and Nick dies eating it and June will wrestle with whether not to tell and detect him but she will ultimately decide she can't trust him

The next episode is titled execution.

Doesn’t the Commander that Janine now works for remind you of DJT Jr?

The wedding was disappointing. Who was the commander at the end of the episode? Will Aunt Lydia be on the wall? Can the sedative in the cake hurt Roses baby?

The Commander June killed? That was the one who has been terrorizing Janine at Jezebel’s this season and plotting to kill Commander Lawrence. Nick and Rose don’t have a handmaid, so I assume he survived. Not sure about Rose’s baby. I hadn’t thought about that possibility.

I was expecting explosives this episode. Shanking Commanders in their sleep is so much more personal and violent. I approve. More deaths in these last two episodes, please. I’m rooting for Nick’s death. And you know what…Lawrence, too. Throw all the bastards in there. Let’s go scorched Earth, June.
