So you don’t think finding weapons and getting beat up is a big deal……..

Evidence?

OP says the neighbors are posting it on the list serve. Another poster, who lives in the neighborhood verified that they saw it on there.

Photos? Or rumors? Evidence that it is actually school kids?

Listen, high school kids get up to all sorts of trouble, always have, but the hyperbole and pearl clutching by trolls is ridiculous

A parent whose kid goes to MA said above “ I take my kids to school and it's true“.

And who in their right mind is going to ID themselves and post on a neighborhood list serve that they found weapons or got beat up as a lie to smear the school.

So let’s just believe you that everyone is a troll and since you have not seen it, it didn’t happen.

Got it.

According to DC Crime Cards, there have been four crimes committed within 2,000 feet of MacArthur over the past year, an none of those crimes were violent (two theft from auto, two "other" theft). That is an increase of one crime from the previous YTD.

Wow, what a hellscape. You people need serious help.

JR is no better, hang around TT around dismissal and watch with hordes descend. Teens are the worst

Great. Glad you finally understand. It didn’t happen

I didn't realize that this would turn into such a heated debate. I'm aware that J-R is not great; I am over there often and at dismissal time it is really a scene. So many kids openly vaping weed and whatnot.

Why aren't there more officers in both locations before & after school? Obviously these are all known issues.

I live near Banneker and pass the kids at beginning and end of most days and those kids are seriously like angels. They are so well behaved! Sometimes they go to 7-11 and buy chips or something.

The neighborhood is much more shady than anywhere in Ward 3 but the teenagers are absolutely not creating that vibe.

You do realize that crime is way under reported in the city, right? It’s a well known fact.

Many people don’t call the police. Even when they do, it is always necessarily recorded.

I don’t live in the area but was recently on the bus that goes by this school at 3:30 with my 1st grader. We had to get off—the students were so lewd, constantly screaming, racing in and out. This was with an extra employee behind the driver. It may be typical of high schoolers, I’m not sure—but I now avoid this time.

So any behavior that isn’t reported to or by police is fine? That’s your standard for quality of life in a residential neighborhood ?

Perhaps DCPS should invest in a dedicated bus for this school. It is very hard to get to for most, so they have to take Metro to bus and back again. Or multiple buses.

LOL! You can be defensive and in denial all you want.

Well, there’s your answer OP.

All the MA families on here except for 1 are calling you a troll or a liar. They don’t believe anything unless they see it with their own eyes.

Good luck sending your kid there if you are even still considering it at all……….

Live nearby too and agree. The Banneker nerds (said with affection) are good neighbors.

The crimes that the people here are whining about are of a level that they would not go unreported.

Seriously, you all should just admit you don't like seeing Black and Brown kids in your neighborhood. Just come clean.
