Is this project management? Is she a Civil Engineer? |
Ok Jan! |
Do you think they did in anticipation of the drop in demand for CS graduates or did they do it to manage accessibility to classes? |
Accounting major, accepted offer for 85k after internship |
Was the internship difficult to get? Was it at a big 4? I have heard that those can be very stressful. DC will be a freshman interested in accounting and would appreciate any insight. Thanks |

Terrible advice. Spending more money is not the solution especially if students have to borrow to go to grad school. This is how people end up in debt to their eye balls. |
Niche brokerage financial services. Business major. |
They did this for incoming freshman in 2024, so I don't think it was about drop in demand in the industry. This was probably in the works for a while. I'm not sure why they did it. My guess is that they wanted to keep the program small for class size, and also, they found that a lot of students were dropping the CS major, which is a difficult major. They were allowing anyone to transfer into the CS program as long as you met the minimum requirements. Now, they have only 100 spots for both internal and external transfers. If you get direct admit, it means you can probably complete the program. |
I would say software dev in Java is the area hit hardest. ML/AI dev, full stack still in demand. |
| CS jobs are now just becoming like other industries where it takes a bit to find a job, and the pay is not going to be $100K+ for most. |
Nice! Congratulations to your DC. My son is finishing up sophomore year as an accounting major. |
Congratulations! |
Yeah my kid with ML/AI skills received three offers out in SF. |
My DD got a Big 4 internship. I don’t think they are that hard to get, but you do have to get through the accounting classes, which can be rough. |
