They did this for incoming freshman in 2024, so I don't think it was about drop in demand in the industry.  This was probably in the works for a while.

I'm not sure why they did it. My guess is that they wanted to keep the program small for class size, and also, they found that a lot of students were dropping the CS major, which is a difficult major.    They were allowing anyone to transfer into the CS program as long as you met the minimum requirements. Now, they have only 100 spots for both internal and external transfers.

If you get direct admit, it means you can probably complete the program.[/quote]
