Please say more about that! “Block” in what way? Are you assuming that the man who didn’t get promoted or the kid who didn’t get into college some how earned or deserved it more than those who did? Let’s hear about the data and actual documented practices— instead of vague grievances and resentments.

Um, yes. Affirmative action gives less qualified candidates a leg up if they are members of favored ethnic groups. Which means that more qualified candidates can be blocked if they are members of a disfavored ethnic group. That’s what it is and how it works. But I see that YOU are a member of the most special group of all-the wokerati. The latest version is that we have to do the affirmative action AND pretend that we didn’t actually do it!

No it doesn't. No it freaking doesn't. STOP LYING.

Sure it does. Go look at the screening questionnaire for the air traffic controllers. You got more points if you played multiple high school sports. WTF?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14399413/FAA-air-traffic-control-hiring-process-quiz-DEI-targets.html

Are you under the impression that you learn nothing of value playing high school sports, let alone balancing multiple sports and still succeeding at school? You don't think that could in any way translate to making someone a better employee than someone who only went to school and did f#ckall with their time?

I really don't know why I continue to waste my time. This country is lost because we are a stupid and selfish people who have empowered the stupidest and most selfish among us, and we're too stupid and selfish to see that they are destroying us. Frankly, we may deserve this.

No, it doesn’t do that at all — which is why you provided verbal diarrhea instead of data.

DP. Yes it does. Look at the SAT scores of admitted Harvard students by demographic. Look at the LSAT scores of admitted Harvard students by demographic. Then look at other schools. Etc.

For a long time, we said that this was the right thing to do. And at the time, it was. The question is, are we at a right time to change this? Some are saying yes. A lot of people, actually. Whether it is or not, we are doing it. We are saying it is not the right thing to do anymore. And we will see what happens. (I can understand the arguments from both sides. For a test case, though, I can look at Minnesota in the 90s and Minnesota today and say that then, with explicit affirmative action and proactive steps to integrate, was better than now, without, where self-segregation has lead to actual segretation.)

I just feel SO bad for people of color right now. I’m an ally, I support BLM, and I don’t want them to hate me because I’m the same color as Trump (white, not orange). I don’t understand why he can be so cruel. Or why so many voters are motivated by racism and hate for skin color.

I'm sure you mean well with this. But if you care to understand why Trump actually did better with ethnic and racial minorities in 2024 than he has in the past, it might be worth reading on.

I'm extremely liberal, so I'm not saying this as a Trump voter. But I do understand why non-white people overlooked Trump's racism to vote for him. You are white, I presume, and you are talking about how bad you feel for people of color. How bad do you feel for yourself or your kids that you might have to live in a society that segregates on something arbitrary? In a society that would deprive you of getting to know people like me?

Many non-whites vote for Trump not becuase they don't see his racism. They vote for him because they see that everyone is racist, and so they are trying to maximize their opportunity in that context.

BS absolute BS

You understand that it has been and still is legal to separate/segregate the disabled from the nondisabled, at work, school and public facilities.

We are not part of the civil rights act.

The I never included us, and we cross over all races. We warned you. I SMH everyday at the ignorance.

OMG people Trump is not making it easier for all white people to get into college that is absurd.

Women will not be accepted.

Certain religions will not be accepted ie Jews, Muslims, Catholics (yes look at history), etc...

This is about white only in the image of Musk.

Yeah you missed that. 1933 go back and look at history it is repeating itself. SCOTUS and civil rights LOL those will not help.

When Trump was elected with all three branches red and SCOTUS gave him immunity game over. Welcome to a Dictatorship/Aparthied

I think more kids were blocked because of legacy admissions than because of affirmative action.

We need to have these federal contracts where it’s clear:

- whites need not apply.

No white kid is blocked from going to college. No college other than a HBCU is not majority white. Very few people of color are at the top of any organization that wasn't founded and funded by people of color.

You are being lied to (or you are the liar spreading disinformation). Affirmative action isn't what you thought it was.

I don’t disagree with your sentiments and I don’t think it changes your point but your facts on colleges is wrong. Eg, UC Berkeley demographics is much more Asian than white. Ditto UC Irvine and many other campuses. Many community colleges like Montgomery College here are predominantly Black and brown.

So you’re supporting your argument against what your calling “affirmative action “ by suggesting that I look at the LAW School admission test scores of college students and college graduates who believe that they have a chance of being admitted to what is arguably one of the top law schools in the country — who then actually get admitted — to make your argument? That’s limited at best. But you know that. Harvard Law School and Minnesota— and no actual data, while suggesting that I dig it out to prove your point. That’s convincing, for sure! Sarcasm intended.

How does it not? If people want a leg up, great. But they can’t then also demand that everyone pretend it didn’t happen. I’m all for protecting people’s feelings, but you’re the ine lying here.

I honestly can't wrap my head around the fact that people who generally have critical thinking skills have convinced themselves that giving someone racial preference isn't discriminatory. The shit they come up with reeks of desperation.

I can’t think of a single reason why we would want air traffic controllers, who regularly work in groups of 2-4 to cover airspace and multiple communications channels under extremely stressful conditions that are both mentally and physically taxing, to have experience working on teams in stressful conditions that are both mentally and physically taxing.

I am a person of color and I am not protected by the ban (discrimination) and thus I am glad they got rid iof the discriminatory ban. Make the ban truly equal and just by including all POC and not just cherry picking or pandering.

Did you actually read the article? There used to be a AT-SAT that was extremely difficult - it prioritized numerical ability, decisiveness and complexity problem solving. You had to pass that test to become an ATC. But not enough minorities were passing. So they scrapped that test, and replaced it with a much shorter test - the AT-SA, plus the biographical assessment. The biographical score was worth 2.5 more than the cognitive test. You got 15 points if science was your weakest subject; only 2 points if you were a PILOT. An Air Force vet is quoted as saying "I fail to see what sports participation or any of this stuff (on the questionnaire) has to do with aviation."

So tell me again how this is a good thing?

Stop being disingenuous. You and everyone can read the test and the scoring rubric and see what a fraud it is.
