FDIC RIF Plans

We got a message that the Acting Chairman wants to schedule in-person town hall meetings with various divisions, offices, and regions in the coming weeks. I wonder if you get the invite, is the meeting really just there to notify you that you've been fired and will be immediately escorted out of the building. If you get the invite, make sure to bring your purse, keys, and home cell phone, so that you are ready to exit the building on a moment's notice. I'm not saying this is going to happen, but it's best to plan ahead and be ready.

Any more specific time frame re. "coming weeks"?

Could derp 2.0 be offered before then?

I don’t think they would put the Chairman front and center, in-person for that. Seems like a huge liability and not at all consistent with how other agencies are handling things.

I guess they need to beef up the DIF (less in salaries = more in DIF) in anticipation of lots of upcoming bank failures.

So many people who “ can” easily retire there. I heard they are waiting for offers.

Now I’m 13 years in, too young for the Social Security supplement, too few years for Vera, too specialized for a private sector job, and looking at a 50% haircut on what I had planned for my pension to be. And it sucks cause I should be employable. But nobody’s going to hire a mid 50s software engineering manager who’s been out of the private sector for so long.

Same here.

DOA DOA DOA. Corrupt corrupt corrupt. The managers there shouldn’t get to keep their high flying jobs if the rank and file are let go.

Reddit says DOGE is at FDIC and layoffs are imminent.

Reddit folks think that the layoffs could happen as soon as this weekend or as late as June. I think a second Deferred Resignation Program is doubtful. If I'm feeling optimistic, maybe there will be a VERA and/or VSIP offer before the RIFs start.

If anyone says that they know what is going on, I wouldn't fully trust it. HHS just did a huge purge of 10,000 employees on April Fool's Day with no advance notice given to HR or agency leaders.

Why wouldn’t they do a 2nd DRP? Other agencies are offering.

So we have Valentine Day and April Fools. Do they like milestone layoffs?
