Do your homework. Democrats have always supported limiting immigration. However, they have tried to have a more compassionate take on it. Meanwhile, there are some very loud far-left groups who have pushed to eliminate any limits, or any consequences to entering illegally. Those groups have never spoken for the entire party, just as the KKK doesn't speak for the entire Republican party.
