If you look at the matriculations from
The top NYC privates, boarding schools, etc there are always many to UVA and none to UGA. |
So? That's incredibly random. Back to the OP who probably doesn't care about boarding school and NYC private schools.......Let your kid pick which is a better fit for weather, school size and college town environment. The other factors are basically the same. |
I put all my life decisions to the NYC private school litmus test. |
Ha! You, my friend, just coined the tagline for the DCUM college forum. |
Perfection! |
The NYC private parent will be clutching her pearls when a kid chooses UGA sooner or later to escape people like her LOL |
| UGA is a better school overall. |
UGA is better known nationally and UVA is well known in the DC area and VA,, |

I'm the poster who replied about the NY privates and boarding schools. I think both UGA and UVA are great schools. I replied what I did because previous posters were saying that both are unknown in NYC circles. They're not--UVA is viewed in an entirely different light if you look at matriculations from many elite high schools. Perhaps this will change. I personally would love it as my kid received the UGA scholarship which will make it in-state tuition when combined with DC Tag. He is strongly considering it.

The posters specifically said NY, not NYC. Anyway, it's still hysterical about the elite-NYC schools being a litmus test. -XOXO, GG |
I feel like you try this in every thread that mentions UVA. It's a school with more applications from OOS than in. OP, you have to let your kid visit and decide which one feels like the better school for them. |
| How does UVA’s campus compare size wise? Is it walkable? UGA felt huge. |
UGA is big but fully contained. UVA is a little more spread out with North Grounds being across 29. I don’t think there would be much of a difference getting around. |
THIS! |
UGA gets more applications OOS than in state too. That doesn’t make UVA unique. https://oir.uga.edu/_resources/files/cds/UGA_CDS_2023-2024.pdf |
