When will the Gonzaga waitlist move?

Regardless of whether it’s because of size, supply vs. demand or anything else, the acceptance rate at Gonzaga allows it to be a reasonably sure thing for a very good student and is less of an admission crapshoot than some of the NWDC schools.

That doesn’t make it bad, less than, inferior, attacked or disliked. Not sure why you can’t accept that.

Gonzaga is not a sure thing for any student, even someone with straight A's and 99% HSPT. Many strong students (even Catholic and coming from parochial schools) are denied admission. So a kid coming from a non Catholic or public school will certainly be less likely to gain admission even with high stats. Is it more likely than a place like Prep and STA? Yes, and that is only because of it's sheer size.

+1. My kid with straight As, HSPTs in the mid 90, and Catholic was waitlisted. If you search for the thread on this from last year, you will see that this is not an unusual result.

Wow what does it take to get in? A brother or a dad alumni?

My kid with straight As, HSPT 93, Catholic, coming from APS was waitlisted. He is very disappointed, Gonzaga was his first choice and put a lot of effort in his essay (10+ handwritten pages). He was accepted at Prep and one other school but still hoping to get off the Gonzaga waitlist. Reading through the threads here, it seems chances are low

You are so unbelievably rude. There is no logical reason for you to be on this thread if all you’re going to post is typical DCUM troll rude level stuff. The world is rude enough already; stop adding to it. Be a better person.

They have a strong preference for kids coming from Catholic K-8's. I know several with similar stats to your DS coming from public that were waitlisted as well. GL to your son but Prep is also a wonderful option!

Which part of that is rude? Is it super important to you that people believe that Gonzaga is the most competitive admit in the area for some reason? If it makes you feel better, then Gonzaga is unquestionably the most selective school in DC. Better?

It's the interlopers. PP pops into a thread with no first hand knowledge, repeats his own drummed up false narrative, and posts again and again and again. Then, the faux innocent query: "sensitive much?" So thoroughly annoying. Which I guess is the point. So, congrats, I guess.

DS got off the waitlist in a previous year with a similar profile. If they gave the option of writing a letter this year, definitely have your DS do that and let GZ know it’s his first choice. Good luck!

Seems like everyone we know who goes there got off the waitlist, but we don't know a lot of Catholic K-8 kids.

What is the specific false narrative that has you so upset? I’m not even sure what the narrative is, let alone a false one. Please clearly specify whatever assertion you think is incorrect.

I know a lot of kids who are current students who got off the wait list, keep the faith and I wish your sons the best.

How many is "a lot"?

That suggests GZA is missing their Yield target with a larger number of boys opting to take another offer.

I think like colleges this year, you might see more WL movement. GZ now costs what in-state colleges cost--$35.5k/year. This area has so many Fed and Fed contractors that are worried about job security or recently fired. Many people might be re-thinking private costs in a way they weren't back in September/October.
