TRUE! That is why I am trying to learn more about the decision making process. I stayed for some of the first tryout, and it seemed like the youngest guy was running the show. Does anyone know anything about Byrnes or Weinstein? We know Bermudez has a kid on the team, do the other two?

Yes Byrnes has a kid on the team who played for SLHS varsity. He has coached nova cavs for years as his son's coach and I assume its a lot of Reston kids.

Weinstein's kid i believe goes to chantilly. He coached last year.

Do these coaches really prioritize unskilled big guys over better players that might be smaller?

AAU coaches with son's who are the starting PG? Yes. Then they don't let the big guys shoot jumpers or dribble. They rarely take many guards, they don't want their own kid to have to share playtime or be worse than a bench guard.

I have seen this dynamic a LOT.

Seems odd, wonder if Bermudez took his kid? Or if he's playing with his dad...

I would be shocked if each coach wasn't coaching his own kid.

Just saw the Weinstein roster on instagram, his kid isn't on there. It all keeps getting stranger.

Maybe its a different Weinsten, but there used to be a Weinstein who coached AAU whose son plays for Chantilly...

Did they publish the roster for the A team

Is Weinstein the A team?

It seems like he is the B team now because there are kids from the A team that aren't on Weinstein's team. No roster for the A team yet as far as Instagram goes.

Byrnes always A team coach

The tryout least night must not have produced what he was looking for. Insta shows that there will be another tryout Friday night. What gives.

Did anyone go to the tryout last night? I'm just curious.

There are boys listed on the "weinstein" roster who played previously for "bermudez". sounds like a lot of behind the scenes drama going on.

i looked at his instagram. He bragged about his Chantilly JV team beating Lewis like 80-8. That's so cringe. Let your bench start or play in that game at least. Why is the absolute biggest HS in FCPS even playing Lewis???

That's just sad. His team was one of the weakest teams in-district-lost almost all their games. (Maybe that's why he can't find the players he wants.) So I guess he's gotta brag about whatever wins they can get.
