| Anyone heard one way or the other? |
DS got invited to the invite only tryout, but did not make it. Tryouts were organized, but it did seem like they knew who they were planning on taking. |
| Thank you. Unfortunately DS didn’t make it. Oh well. On to the next team. |
| I have always heard the Nova Cavs teams were pre selected before tryouts. |
| That makes a lot of sense. |
Nah not this year. The coaches were trying to recruit talent, but many of the players they wanted to bring in went to other teams. Besides that, they redid all the teams this year and chose 3 teams for 16u and 3 teams for 15u. |
| Is that why they are having an additional tryout for the 16u top team? Talent decided not to join? You win some you lose some I guess. Sucks for the kids who didn’t make it the first go around only to have a team go unfilled. |
| my son tried out for a local travel team. one of the parents there said a lot of the kids he recognized from other try outs. Apparently this spring season there was a lot of movement from teams to other teams. Many that tried out had other teams but came just for back up |
Same story in Maryland. This spring it seemed as if fewer teams held open tryouts, some invite only. Best strategy is to look for a team in the fall and play with that team through winter season (around breaks for school ball). |
I don't believe that is the top team anymore. It seems like the top team was filled, and so was the b team. So now they're recruiting for the c team. |
| Who is the coach of the C team? |
This year I think it is Adrien Bermudez, he used to coach the a team but now does not have a lot of players. |
| Oh. I thought Adrian’s team was the A team. I did see he posted for the additional tryout but thought he coached the top team. |
From what was explained by my DS, Shannon Byrnes from South Lakes High School is now coaching the a team, and Coach Weinstein who coached the c team last year is now coaching the b team. Or something to that effect. |
| Bermudez is the Chantilly JV coach. |
