I'll be checking here to see if you update. We are in the same situation and were really hoping for financial aid, although we knew that this might be an unusually tough year. Still, no definitive statement that we were denied aid (or that we're on a waitlist for it) has us hoping for a miracle, even though we know that's unlikely. We did receive an offer for a good amount of financial aid from another, less expensive school, but they used a non-Clarity system. If we got a similar offer from Burke, we'd accept right away. |
Have you called them and asked? |
I'm the poster you replied to - we've been waitlisted for aid. I would email the admissions office. Sounds like a tech glitch resulted in a few people getting incomplete info. Good luck! |
Yep, turns out we're in the same boat. Crossing our fingers! |
| We were initially on the financial aid waitlist. Burke sent a new updated contract with an offer of aid today. That’s what we needed to go ahead and send our deposit! |
So jealous! That's awesome and congrats! |
| Can anyone here be more transparent about aid at Burke? How much is your HHI? Do they look at other assets? What is typical aid in terms of $ or tuition %? |
| We didn't get FA, our HHI is $450k. One needs to apply for aid using Ravenna which looks at the entire picture (HHI, assets, # of kids, and much more). |
They look at everything you have. There is no "typical aid" from what I understand, though they seem to have a reputation of giving a little to many. IME, the vast majority of families seem to be very well off but it is a private school, so that fits the expectation. Some families are of more modest income, but that's "DC modest" not typically American-family modest so still high earners. These are the stats they offer on the site: 35% of Burke families (approximately) receive financial aid annually $250,000 and less annually is when households are typically eligible for some level of financial assistance |
I would hope HHI $450k doesn’t get aid. Sheesh. |
$450k and you asked? Is FA from the annual galas of those already paying tuition? |
| What do you mean about kids without red flags? What is considered a red flag? |
| PP can you reference the post you’re replying to. Are you asking about red flags for acceptance or FA? |
|
| The quote above about red flag |
