DC giving 50 percent discount on traffic tickets to bad drivers, so long as they're poor

If I was ever to become impoverished, and had to budget as hard as people on food stamps do, I'm pretty sure that the $100 once in a while we spend on tickets would be pretty close to most of my family's unobligated spending money for the month. So, I don't begrudge the decrease.

Half the city is going to qualify for this once DOGE is done with its layoffs.

Is there a 50 percent off coupon for mowing down pedestrians?

This is another Bowser stupidity and why Trump should take over the city.

A typical case of reverse discrimination.

Regressive taxes are bad.

A spiraling burden for the poor WHO REFUSE TO DRIVE SAFELY. They could just obey the speed limit and they'd owe nothing at all.

That 50% is surely going to mean people will be lining up to mow down pedestrians. I didn’t realize the only incentive they had not to do that was the full price of the traffic ticket!

Yeah the man of law and order. Other than murdering the crowds on January 6 in your city of course….or sexual and tax crimes, but other than that totally upstanding.

Seem fair because they place more speed cameras in the areas with poor people.

+100

Charge rich people $1,000 and poor people $20.

You think poor people should be allowed to drive dangerously with impunity? Yikes.

Different rules, for different people.

God, I hate this particular mantra.

It isn't a tax, it's a sanction for breaking the law. It is 100% avoidable.

It's progressive bu11sh!t like this that makes good old fashioned liberals like me really fear for the democratic party

Why stop at tickets? The poor should receive discounted jail time as well. They don't have the resources to spend an extended amount of time away from the family they support.

Congratulations. You must feel very good about yourself.

Government fines and punishments should be the same for everyone.

EXACTLY! This is not a hard concept people.

Right? What do people want to do jail poor people who can't pay fines?
