Revisit MLSN and GA merger

Harsh, just cause its anonymous doesn't mean you need to be a dick. Most coaches I've interacted love soccer and never wanted a desk job, not that complicated.

Best to carve out own identity and all these plans are way to ambitious for a coutry with no soccer culture and lots of other distractions and alternatives for athletic kids. I want you to be right but I also don' think I'm wrong.

What kept everything back was the influence of college (specifically womens) soccer.

Until recently going pro in women's soccer was as difficult as getting on a national team. But the pay was ridiculous and nobody cared. At least with the national team there were endorsement opportunities.

So players quickly realized that the best option was to play in college. Now colleges are slowly pulling back on non revenue sports and pro teams are slowly starting to pay players more. This makes the pro pathway more and more viable.

The girl dad's need to look at what's happening with MLSN + pro/college recruiting because this is where the women's game is headed. As an example once Acadamies are established on the women's side this is where both pro teams and college recruiters will look for talent. Not at showcase events (as much as they do now)

Except we all want our daughters to go to college because no degree does not a sustainable lifetime make

You say that now but when pro teams offer 400k+ a year with 50k put aside per year for college when they retire you'll change your tune.

Never say never but this is not going to happen. The money is not there. Not even for half of that. And never will be. MLS is driven by Latino support and beer sales. Sorry but true. Neither will ever happen on the women's side. Also the boys side is full of kids from across the economic levels but has a lot of LMC or LC Latino kids who can look at soccer as being a great way to make it in the world. The girl's side is almost exclusively UC, UMC, and to a lesser extend MC. They are less likely to view pro soccer as the way to riches. A 400k job for five years is not worth it when they can get to 400k on their own for a lifetime through college as doctors, lawyers, and such. They know they can do this as that is what their parents have done. ON DD's ECNL team a few years back there were 5 biglaw partners as a parent; 3 doctors; 2 CEOs of medium size companies. That is 10 of the slots.

College is still king. PP says colleges pulling back from non-revenue sports. True to a very limited degree but women's soccer is not where they are pulling back. There is also and there cannot be a USL type women's program. Just no way there is enough money.

Playing pro soccer for girls in the US is just not a good idea unless you are one of maybe 40 girls a year who are the top AND you are conventionally pretty or edgy in a way that is popular for marketing. Otherwise much better off to go to college if you are smart enough. Otherwise you will end up as a soccer coach.

Well, we definitely need more women soccer coaches (and if it pays well enough, what's wrong with that?)

On what planet does it pay well? Not here. And no the last thing we need is more soccer coaches.

Somebody certainly is making a ton of money on youth soccer. Women who start out as coaches, mentors could then stay in the biz like men do and the more business savvy may eventually rise and make $$$. Also, again, if it's enough to pay the bills and be happy, we should all be so lucky.

It's the administration. Have you ever seen the (posted) salaries of the "non-profit" Loudoun staff (non-coaches)?

Can this info about VRSC admin be found online too or no?

The GA wants to recreate DA.
MLS is trying to get their hands on $$$ by getting into clubs/women’s soccer.

Eventually all the best boy programs (including ECNL) will want to play MLSN.

1. ECNL club reaches out to MLSN. “We would like to join, but what do we do with ECRL team?
*****MLS announces Tier II

2. ECNL club says ok, but what about our girls side?
***MLSN forms Alliance with GA

3. What about ECRLg? Where will they go?
*****GA announces Tier II

4. In the future (around World Cup 2026), the MLS will most likely start a pro women’s league, soak in NWSL, and create some form of MLSN for girls.

Alright, listen up, my friend! I don't know you, but I'm ready to buy you a drink—beer, wine, or whatever tickles your fancy. I've been shouting about this for months, and people think I've lost my marbles. 😂 Seriously, they still believe this is all about player development. Spoiler alert: it's all about the Benjamins, baby!

It is not complicated because what they did was waste their life on soccer as a teen and early 20s. Now they are stuck.

So MLS will create a league opposite NWSL? Will not happen. They would not do it in any even but it is all about the money. Two leagues cannot make it if one barely can. NWSL is barely there.

The combination that would matter would be ECNL and NWSL. There is little a men's/boy's league can do for girl's/women's soccer. GA is not in a position to help NWSL at all hence why they have a very loose agreement with MLSN. The deal would be for ecnl to add a pro pathway for its players with direct tie ins between the clubs.

At that, GA folds.

Why would MLSN/NWSL help their competitor ECNL out?

Spoiler alert: you didn't discover something new. Everyone already knows that businesses are in business to make money and make their decisions based on what will make the most money.

Because MLSN is not a competitor of ECNL. GA and MLSN have signed a general loose agreement to do some stuff that is minor and think about doing other stuff. MLSN and GA are not partners; not in bed together. They are on a first date that could go anywhere. NWSL has no side or stake in any of this at the moment. They have no alliance. If anything they favor ECNL because that is where there young players come from.

There is not even a hint that these two leagues will merge. The agreement does not cover this or really much else.

NWSL is in no way affiliated with MSL or MSLN. Its its own league and entity with its own owners of the clubs. It owes nothing to MLS and will do what's in its best interest. Its not going to follow the MLS model. Its not going to have "homegrown" players. Christ - they just collectively bargained away the draft. Every unsigned player is a free agent - no club has any hold on any up and coming youth player.
