Why did American Airlines cancel literally at the LAST second DCA to Florida this morning?

Go ask Reddit. They always know the answer to these. I'm serious.

You expect someone to know an unpublished reason for cancellation to a flight without a departure time or destination airport?

Yes. Those avation watchers can figure anything out. It’s American from DCA this morning. Not terribly hard to find.

Wait instead of saying which of the many airports your were flying to in Florida, you want people to just guess? On a day with likely a large number of cancelled flights? On the biggest airline out of DCA?

Little did you know your home's really only; A town you're just a guest in; So you work your life away just to pay; For a time-share down in Destin.

Plus, flights to FL are like every 2 hrs. Easy to just cancel and combine on the next flight especially on mid-week flight.

This is STUPID.

They cannot cancel flights due to lack of interest because they need the plane to arrive where it is scheduled to arrive, passengers or not. Otherwise, it causes scheduling conniptions that can reverberate through the entire airline.

US Air used to do that all the time. They typically had two flights per day to any given location and would just put you in the next one. If you missed your connection, it was cheaper for them to put you up in a crap hotel near the airport then fly the plane mostly empty. Happened to me at least 5 times.

There's so many reasons. They may have needed to divert that plane to another destination, people forget that every plane has connections, it's not just your destination that completes their use. It sucks - you may never know as well. Airlines all around suck.

They don’t do this, the crew all needs to go to the next stop as they have more flights.

You clearly don’t understand crew scheduling.

We sat on a plane for 5 hours in Tokyo before United cancelled and told passengers to go find their own hotel at 10pm.
