| It’s the texture for me. Like another PP I’m also not a fan of tiramisu and I also don’t like ice box cakes, panzanilla salad, and most trifle. All delicious foods for people who love them. But for whatever reason I don’t like the texture of any of them. It’s strictly the texture and not the flavors. |

Where do you get this? People say all kinds of other desserts are too sweet and people agree tenfold. Others are saying it’s soggy. Not sure how either of those descriptions relate to only liking white bread. |

+1, this is true of a lot of Mexican desserts. Flan is similar -- good flan is wonderful, like caramel panna cotta. Bad flan is revolting. I think with tres leches the key is that you need the cake itself to be very spongey but not too light, or it won't hold up to being soaked. It's actually not super easy to make a cake with that perfect texture and I think a lot of Mexican restaurants just do not emphasize desserts and don't put that much effort into it. I have had tres leches that was delicious but only in a setting where it was made special for the meal. A friend of mine is Argentinian and served it at a birthday party once and it was delicious. But I think I've only ever had it in a restaurant once or twice and was not impressed. |
| I tried it once and assumed I had a terrible rendition of it, but it sounds like it was the norm! Soggy, mealy, yucky. And flat flavor. It’s a no for me! |
Same type of person that doesn’t like tres leches because it’s “soggy and weird” can’t handle the texture of bread crust or anything other than wonder bread. |

I love it but my husband hates it. He also doesn’t like bread pudddimg though. I love all that stuff. I also like a steamed British pudding with a sauce on it …. So yummy.
I do agree that some tres leches cakes are kind of lazy. I think the best one I ever had was from the Costco in Cabo. Years ago i got one at guapos in bethesda that was great but that was before the pandemic so they may well have a different supplier now. Just because a restaurant is high end doesn’t mean the desserts are good….sadly it doesn’t often correlate. Was it Cielo Rojo? I love them but their tres leches cake is weird. |

Wonder bread and bread pudding have about the same texture. Soft and mushy. I still have my teeth. I like to use them. |
| I really dislike it but I'm surrounded by people who love it and will choose it first over most other desserts if there is an option. I'm so surrounded, I genuinely didn't know anyone who felt the same as I do. These people disagree over all other desserts but Tres leches is the sure thing they can all love. |
| I’ve only had it at a Cuban spot and still think of it years later. You might have had a bum one. Also it’s VERY rich. A tiny piece is enough, def with coffee. |
