The county should enforce the ordinance and I am not shoveling people’s sidewalks for them. I am capable of walking around their section of the sidewalk and so are my kids. It’s slower going but it’s fine. |
NP here Exactly. Who does PP think she is, "volunteering" other people's "scouts and older teens" to do free manual labor for lazy able-bodied adults? |
Well, I did report, thank you very much. Nothing happened, so I reported again. The county finally came out after about a week, but they didn't do anything. I actually went over to shovel myself (even though I should not have to) but by the time I realized the homeowners were not going to, the snow was so compacted into a sheet of ice that I could not make a dent in it. So what else do you think I should do PP? |
We should all go back in our homes and search for real problems to solve. Be aware sidewalks could be icy. Walk carefully. Think about all the things humans have endured while you do these things. And wait for it to melt. |
As a north easterner, someone would probably put some sand or cat litter on really icy spots. You don't bother trying to shovel ice and it's too cold right now for salt to work. There is a really icy stretch along Langston Blvd across the street from DHMS that doesn't appear to belong to anyone obvious. It would be really great if the county treated it because it's used by gobs of students. |

Yes, I have an elementary schooler. I walk her to the bus stop and hold her hand and we walk carefully. If she slips, I've got her hand. I don't see how it's that big of a deal. |
great for you but doesn't quite work for a stroller |
my spouse slipped and broke a bone on the way to school, so yes, the ice can be a very big deal |
You realize you're on a thread about school aged kids getting to school right? Sorry your stroller can't pass though that sucks. |
This sucks and is also a risk of living in a place where conditions get icy. My grandma fell and broke her hip on ice toward the end of her life. That's why the County should issue tickets to home owners so write the County about your spouse's broken bone. I guess in the era of climate change this area is going to need to either figure out how to adapt to icy conditions or call off the month of January and February and sit inside. Because we're going to get more extreme weather patterns. This isn't going to be every winter but it's going to be more often. It's been icy since early January at this point. |
TWO HOUR DELAY??
What happened? Did some kids slip in ice or something, we’ve had another 24 hours for the county to enforce sidewalk de-icing… |
Are you new to the county? Its a bus issue. |
wtf arlington? Kids got there fine today but tomorrow is going to be a problem??? |
